I love this story.

It reminds me why I always draft my team around Labor Day weekend; get the drama and the pre-season injuries out of the way.

FYI: Labor Day
September 1, 2008
September 7, 2009
September 6, 2010
September 5, 2011
September 3, 2012

Local radio station is reporting a personal interview with Favre. He has stated if given his release he would play ONLY for the Vikings or Bucanneers.

It's getting rumory now. I just heard something that said that If Favre were to come to the Bucs, Garcia would be released.

Garcia as Romos' backup? I thought it was going to be Simms for Glenn.

Starting to get a little ridiculous. Favre rumors have become the new Elvis sightings.

I agree, however, as stated this was a personal interview from clear channel WITH Favre.

My gut is saying he wants to win a title, and thinks he can with one of those two.

That does appear to be his line of thinking at this point. Not a bad speculation on his part.

If Favre was to sign with either Tampa Bay or Minnesota where does that put the value of the WRs there?
I'd have to think that Berrien and Galloway would suddenly become at least 4th rounders.

I contend Flavor Favre new his time was up in CheeseLand and felt he was Favre and above competing for the starting job.

The Pack doesn't want him back, clue one. Brett still wants to play, clue two.

I doubt the Packers whould have him compete for the starting job if he never retired.

I personally am rooting for Brett Favre to come back and play.

The man may be completely indecisive and immature about when to hang up his cleats, but I forgive him because of his absolute love for the game and desire to compete. If I'm the Packers I welcome him back as my starting QB, no questions asked.

I could see him in a Vikes' uniform next season. That would be interesting for the NFC North.

The lastest rumor I heard on this is:
  • -- Gruden Expected to Push Hard for Favre --
    Fri Jul 11, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • The Tampa Tribune reports Buccaneers HC Jon Gruden will push hard to acquire Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre. Gruden was willing to trade for former Denver QB Jake Plummer, who was unsure about his playing future, so you can only imagine what he will convince management to give up for Favre. Right now there is a lot of speculation about which teams would be a good fit for Favre, but Gruden is familiar with him. Gruden coached Favre in 1992 when he was an offensive assistant at Green Bay, plus was around him as a Packers receivers coach in 1994 and 1995.
and this:
  • -- Favre Eyeing Panthers & Dolphins --
    Fri Jul 11, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports there is speculation that QB Brett Favre and his agent, James (Bus) Cook, already have a team picked out for Favre to play in a return to the league. A client of Cook's recently told a friend that Miami and Carolina were the teams that were Favre's most likely landing place, and probably the only way he would know that is if discussions had already taken place with those teams. If Favre submits his reinstatement letter to the NFL office, the Packers will begin offering him up for a trade. It's possible they'll give Cook permission to negotiate with other teams, but GM Ted Thompson will put his top two lieutenants, directors of football operations Reggie McKenzie and John Schneider, on the case and tell them to find the best deal possible.
and this:
  • -- Redskins Interested in Favre? --
    Fri Jul 11, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • WTEM speculates Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder would be interested in adding Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre to the team's roster.
The Skins did just switch to Zorns version of the Holmgren west Coast offense, but I still feel that Tampa is the best resting spot. I would venture it might aid Galloways numbers some.

Hmmm.... according to this Favre yanked the Packers chain just before the draft about coming back.

In late March during the NFL Owners Meeting, Favre informed the team he wanted to play again, multiple sources have told FOXSports.com. Not only did he insist he was returning, both head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson agreed that he still had something left and they would welcome him back. Despite the fact that those close to Favre have stated Thompson did not want Favre back, Thompson was the deciding factor in agreeing it was not too late to have him un-retire at that time and start for the Packers in 2008.
In fact, team brass went as far as chartering a jet to fly to Mississippi to make it official later that week. The agreement was that the NFL's all-time leading passer would return for the year but help make it easier and palatable for Rodgers, who would have to wait another season to take the helm.
The group was set for this huge move when Favre suddenly phoned the team two days before the meeting was to take place and informed McCarthy that he had changed his mind yet again and was staying retired. While team officials were stunned by Favre's reversal, they made the decision to move on and draft his replacement, a move that Favre at the time understood. The Packers selected two quarterbacks in April's draft, Louisville's Brian Brohm in the 2nd round and LSU's Matt Flynn in the 7th round.

Favre in Minnesota means title. They have the defense, and with Berrian the wrs and with Taylor and AP the running game. Favre makes that team scary good.

I have to agree, They are the best fit for Favre. They are real solid in every category except QB. Farve raises this teams level the most.

Now wouldn't that be cool! Playing against the Packers twice each year, and beating them out in their own division.

I have to admit, it's good fit though. Vikings or Bucs both make sense, but the Vikings are just a QB away from a great team.

Clue three:
Favre called the Pack in May and said he changed his mind. They were boarding the private jet to fly down to Mississippi when he called again to say he was staying retired after all. They wanted him back in May, but after that nonsense it appears they're done playing games with him.

There is no way they should grant him an unconditional release. They need to make someone trade for his rights so he doesn't end up someplace in their division, or conference for that matter.

You wanna play? Fine, have fun in Baltimore, Oakland or with the Jets.

I think Favre would actually have a great time the the Jets. Coles and Cotchery in the passing game, an improved O line, and Thomas Jones. The Jets would be BAD ASS with Favre there.

I feel Favre would struggle in any offense that wasn't an off shoot of what he has used forever. That would rule out Minnesota, and Chicago, but brings the Bucs and Skins higher up the list. Too bad Mooch hadn't went back to coaching somewhere cuz we know where he'd be playing in a heartbeat.
