| Outlaw | Schedule Crunchers : New York Jets SCHEDULE CRUNCHERS New York Jets AFC East The 2nd team examined out of the AFC East is the New York Jets. For years now fantasy footballers have avoided anything to do with the Jets like the plague. Is there anything happening on this schedule that might suggest a change? We already know from the previous "Crunchers" that the AFC East is soft. Division : AFC East Yards Allowed Per Game Patriots : 288 (4th) Jets : 332 (19th) Dolphins 342 (23rd) Bills : 362 (31st) Points Allowed Per Game Patriots : 17 (4th) Bills : 22 (18th) Jets : 22 (19th) Dolphins : 27 (30th) Even having to face the Patriots twice isn't enough to make the division road that difficult. There are still the 4 other games against the Bills and Dolphins that point to fantasy point blowouts. Below you will find the opponents and their defensive ranking based on a combination of points allowed and yards allowed from the 2007 season. These are the 2 stats that typically can indicate how well fantasy players will score against any given defense. Week 1 : Dolphins (30th) Week 2 : Patriots (4th) Week 3 : Chargers (9) Week 4 : Cardinals (19th) Bye Week 6 : Bengals (27th) Week 7 : Raiders (25th) Week 8 : Chiefs (14th) Week 9 : Bills (24th) Week 10 : Rams (29th) Week 11 : Patriots (4th) Week 12 : Titans (5th) Week 13 : Broncos (23rd) Week 14 : 49ers (21st) Week 15 : Bills (24th) Week 16 : Seahawks (12th) Week 17 : Dolphins (30th) Strength Of Schedule Index : 18 Fantasy Playoffs 49ers (21st) Bills (24th) Seahawks (12th) Fantasy Playoffs Strength Index : 19 The Jets have an interesting schedule. They find themselves playing 4 top 10 defenses during the fantasy regular season. These 4 games are all outside of the bye weeks. This makes Jets players look quite tempting as bye week plug ins. From week 4-10 they don't face any higher ranked defense than 14th. The fantasy playoff schedule looks pretty nice too. Can Jets players find spots on tight rosters in fantasy play this year? Are they better served being bench players with bye week potential? What is their true value based on the defenses they face? Last edited by ExperiencedRookie; 07-02-2008 at 05:12 PM. |

Not quite the plague my friend Coles and jones had value last year. Curtis Martin lead the league in rushing in 2004. Lets not make them the lions please.

You're right though, Jets haven't been completely useless. We'll get to the Lions soon enough...

| Outlaw | The Jets have promise here and there. I'm actually really interested in seeing how the Brett Favre thing pans out. I cannot help but feel like if he really wants to play, it could affect a team like NY. Honestly, I think the Jets are one good QB away from contending with the Patriots in the AFC East. If Favre wants to play and lets say GB releases him, where will he play? I mean, I think that the guy would actually go play somewhere else, baring the team has a chance to win. The teams I can see are the Ravens (who I believe have been a QB away from winning the Super Bowl a few times in the last 5 years), the Jets, the Bears, or the Vikings (another team who, with Brett Favre, may contend for NFC Champs) just to name a few. I could see a leader like Favre, coming off of a year that would give him and the Jets all of the confidence in the world, help NY make a run in 2008 if he were to end up there. |

| Who Me? Admin | Must say, this makes me like a Thomas Jones bounce back year even more. What does everyone think of the QB situation here? Many had high hopes for Clemmons and then he got his shot and was very unimpressive. I still like the tools he brings to the table and have higher hopes then some for him. With this schedule, can he be a suprise back-up for your fantasy team?
