Seahawk News

  • -- Seahawks WR Update --
    Mon Jul 7, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • USA Today reports Seattle Seahawks WR Deion Branch (knee) won't be around until the early part of the season and could be out until October. WR Bobby Engram, coming off a career year, skipped offseason voluntary work to make a point about his contract, and then hinted at holding out during training camp. WR D.J. Hackett signed a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers. That makes WR Nate Burleson the focal point of the aerial game, with a bunch of youngsters fighting for playing time. That group includes WR Ben Obamanu, WR Courtney Taylor, WR Logan Payne and WR Jordan Kent. Burleson also returns punts and kicks and might have to do less of one or both if he's a starting receiver. "I would say that we are going to have to see how that goes. He's a valuable special-teams player, and he's good for us. But if he is our starting split end, I might have to re-evaluate that," HC Mike Holmgren said. "Then I have to see if someone can do what he did. We are working on that."
  • -- Seahawks Won't Name Starting RB Early --
    Mon Jul 7, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • USA Today reports the Seattle Seahawks won't name a starting running back until late into training camp. "We probably won't make that decision right until late. We'll go into training camp," HC Mike Holmgren said. "You know RB Maurice Morris and RB Julius Jones are going to carry the ball a good portion of the time. FB Leonard Weaver going to be our starting fullback. The one I have to figure out a little bit is how we are going to use RB T.J. Duckett."

You have to figure that they may try Duckett at the goal line for a few games early on even though he hasn't been very good at it lately.
