Favre to Tampa? NYJ?

No link, it's on tv right now and it's not finalized, but Mortenson is saying it's a done deal sometime tomorrow.

So maybe the Bret Favre saga will come to conclusion at some point today. Personally, I am beyond tired of hearing about it everytime I tune in to ESPN or the NFL network. Question of the day....will the Madden curse live on this season?

The curse will be confused due to the player moving, and land on the replacement quarterback.

Well crap. I have Garcia as my back up Qb in SUDFFL. I was hoping he stay in Tampa. If he does end up in Minny that would be great...but no guarantees there.

Sheesh..what a circus. Favre to Tampa drops my rating on him. He will struggle this year...just watch.

There has always been that theory that Favre elevates good wide receivers into great ones. The Bucs wide receiver core should put that to the test. Speedy Galloway should profit from Favre but will anyone on the Bucs wide receiver corp elevate to a Driver (some years ago) or Jennings status?

Mortensen has been wrong before.
Anyways...if Favre goes to TB, then fine. He will give the team some help, but at this point...I would say that Garcia is just as good. Garcia is a really good QB and not a lot of people give him credit for that. The only thing at this point Favre has going for him, is the presence he brings onto the field when he plays. Defences fear him because of the 'legendary' status he brings to the game. Garcia...defence don't seems to fear him or respect him, but he make them pay by elevating it to another level.

Garcia played great in SF and Pha. He only played poorly in Cle and Det...but who wouldn't? I fell bad for this guy because is agressive and fights tooth and nail to win games. He led TB to the playoff last season and save the Eagles season when McNabb went down...he's the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL.

i will say it -- i think garcia is a better QB for that team than favre. the guy was a pro bowler last year for crying out loud. i hope tampa throws away a 1st or 2nd rounder and completely screws themselves for this idiot move.

LOL, these guys guess and guess wrong often. ESPN just rewrites the story at the same link and omits the error with an "updated" story containing what really happened.

There are two side to every player move the teams trade and the players contract. Jay Glazier (ESPN) just said the the Jets have a much sweeter deal for the Pack than the Bucs.

I have to agree, that this is a minimal upgrade if any. Garcia is familiar with these WRs, such as they are.

Also you have to figure QB Chris Simms is hoping to get moved as part of this.

I agrtee...this late in the season, you can't expect to bring in Favre to learn the system and the receivers to learn him. Don't forget...the receivers in GB had to get used to his fastballs. You think the receivers in TB will have enough time? Apparently he throws it pretty damn hard. With Garcia you get a QB that will scramble and run the ball with reckless abandon and fights for the first. Favre is getting the point where he's to old to take the punishment.

Gruden coached in GB, and his offense based on Holmgren's teachings. I really don't think the learning curve will be too steep.

Latest reports have Favre going to NY Jets - they apparently have a much better offer. We'll have to wait and see..

Been watching ESPN tv most of the morning. Evidently both sides agree it will be a trade. GB is now adamant it will not be a NFC north team.

Trade was being pushed by GB to NYJets...by asking for less compensation from them..than Tampa. However, they have now lowered their request from Tampa.

The main reason Tampa works for GB is they have Qb depth to offer back with pick or picks for some experienced backup for Rodgers.

They also are not convinced Tampa would trade Garcia if they go Favre. Which would really, really suck for Garcia.

If I were Garcia... I would be totally pissed. Why should Favre get to start there. Garcia is their man. Well, at least Garcia get to go home to a Playboy Playmate...ooooh Carmella!!!

Favre never looks to the playbook anyways. This guy calls whatever the hell he wants. I suspect he'll find his 25 favorite plays and pick whichever one he wants in the huddle.
