Mike Brown basically trumped Marvin Lewis and signed him even though Lewis didn't want him on the team. The interview with Lewis pretty much told the story as Lewis made sure and threw the owner under the bus on this decision, but did it in a nice way.

I think that this pretty much seal the deal for Lewis to be job searching after this year, unless the Bengals can surprise everyone and really turn things around this year.

Unless he wins the Super Bowl, I think he's job hunting after this season. The breaking point in Cincinatti has been reached. They have all of the offensive pieces to steamroll any defense. For them, it's not or never.

You joking right? Super Bowl?? Bengals?? I'm as as they come with them and I know this is as unrealistic as it comes this season. If he makes the playoffs, his job is safe. If he doesn't, I agree with Mike, he's looking for a new gig next year.

If Marvin is having to take players that he doesn't want. Will he leave on his own, regardless of wether or not they make the playoffs?

Not sure if he would leave on his own or not. Only 32 head coaching gigs available, and I don't think there would be another one available for him.

Uh...Marvin Lewis isn't going anywhere unless he quits. He won't be fired. As long as he maintains 0.500%...he is safe. This will only be a negotiating point for Lewis later. Wait and see.....

I doubt Cincy is above .500 this year and I REALLY doubt they make the playoffs. Time to pick up the help wanted ads.

On the contrary. I do beleive they can make 8-8. I also believe that as long as they do that, Brown won't fire him. Brown is deathly loyal...to players and coaches...it is one reason he overrode Lewis on Henry. Add to that how long it took to cut some really bad coaches in Cincy...and Marvin ain't going anywhere..unless he decides to leave.

Quite honestly, the bengals aren't that bad. If they make the O-line change at Center they have played with, and Perry remains healthy...they will win alot of games. This defense will be a take away defense...which will keep the high scoring offense on the field. Quite honestly, if I thought for sure Rudi was 100% and Perry would remain so....I would pick them to possibly win the division.

Now before anyone wastes their breath..I am an Eagles fan..not Bengals.

Cleveland I think will disappoint alot of folks this year. They are what the bengals were in 2005. Took teams by surprise and had an easy schedule. The only really good team in this division is Pittsburgh....and they have holes as well.

Honestly...9-7 isn't out of the question....if they are ignored and taken for granted.

Don't disagree with anyone this. They can be anywhere from 7-9 to 9-7 IMO. Catch a bunch of lucky breaks and maybe 10-6, hit a lot of unlucky breaks and maybe 6-10.

I also feel 9-7 will win this division. The schedules are brutal and the teams overall are not great. This is a winnable division by any of the top 3 teams IMO.

But I do think Marvin needs to win this year. Won't shock me if they keep him amid a fan uprising, but won't suprise me if they let him go either.

Well I hope Henry keeps his nose clean, the WR unit in Cincy is looking more like the MASH unit. Marcus Maxwell was starting to emerge as the lead candidate to start the season as the #3 until he tore a muscle and has been lost for the season. Maxwell has been waived and if he clears waivers will be placed on the Reserve/Insured list with the Bengals for the season.

CJ - Shoulder
Housh - Hamstring
Caldwell - Ankle
Maxwell - out for season

damn, we going to have enough bodies for the game this week?

There are gonna be soooooo many storylines surrounding the Bengals this year. I never supported Henry being suspended and kicked off the team to begin with, but to simply kick the coach in the knee caps and bring Henry back was simply not a good move. I can't see how Marvin Lewis can demand any respect from the team at this point.

Could you imagine a coach like Cowher, or Jimmy Johnson being put in that position? I am betting you would have their resignation within 24 hours.

I really don't see how anything good can come from this season for the Bengals this year. It's not that I want to see a disaster in the making, I just think Brown shoved a big snowball off the top of a mountain with this.
