Mannings knee

This concerns me. It seems eerily familiar to the bursa sack problem Harrison experienced last season. The Colts are also very easy to distrust when it comes to injury reports.

Lots Of Questions Surrounding Colts QB Manning's Progress
Peter King, Sports Illustrated - [Full Article]

While Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning has reportedly been wearing out his physical therapist in recovering from having an infected bursa sac removed from his left knee July 14th, he hasn't practiced in the five weeks since. Although there is absolutely nothing mechanically wrong within the knee, King says the removal of the sac exposes the knee to more bone-on-bone friction. At the time of the surgery, it was announced as a four-to-six-week recovery. Today is the five-week anniversary of the surgery, and Manning practicing is not imminent. Manning is still working on range-of-motion exercises.

Yeah, I expected doubt about the start of the season stuff a month ago.

You always have to research the medical stuff yourself. The problem is usually there is limited public information about what someone has.

This is not Mannings plant leg and he doesn't run anyway, so comparing this to Marvin Harrison is nuts. If Manning can take two steps, then that's all he needs to be able to do and it's not like that O-line let's him get hit anyway. However, if everything is on schedule, you would think that Manning would at least be at practice watching the first team, etc. The hush hush is suspect, but let's not get carried away.

there you go. today was the first practice in the new stadium so it may have just been a timing thing. Freeney and Sanders are suppose to come back this week as well. Sanders and Freeney both wanted to come back today.

From what I heard/read, Sanders and Freeney practiced today. Manning however, was "at" the practice but did not participate.

Colts | Manning attends practice Tuesday
Tue, 19 Aug 2008 08:47:50 -0700

The Associated Press reports Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning (knee) attended his first practice with the team since having knee surgery over five weeks ago. Manning wore a team jersey and shorts, with an elastic band around his left knee. Manning appeared to walk around the field without much difficulty, but he did not wear pads or warm up with teammates. Head coach Tony Dungy previously said Manning could begin practicing next week.

  • -- Peyton Manning Won't Guarantee to be Ready for Regular Season Opener --
    Wed Aug 20, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • The Indianapolis Star reports Colts Peyton Manning (left knee surgery) was in the building Tuesday morning as the team went through a get-to-know-you practice session at Lucas Oil Stadium. Whether he will be ready for the regular season opener is unknown. Colts owner Jim Irsay conceded "it'll be close on Peyton. Only he will know if he's ready. I think there's a good chance he will be. We know there's more rehab ahead, but he is on schedule. The anticipation is he'll be ready, but it'll be close." Manning's availability and ability to extend his streak of 160 consecutive regular-season starts have been in doubt since he underwent surgery July 14 to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee. His rehabilitation forced him to miss all of training camp in Terre Haute and likely will keep him off the practice field at least until next week. As for being ready for the Colts' nationally-televised opener against the Bears, Manning offered optimism, not a guarantee.

I wasn't comparing to Manning's problems to Harrison's.

I was comparing the misinformation-lies-communication-whatever you wnt to call it the Colts let out about Harrison's knee to the information released about Manning's knee. There is a lot of info they haven't said about his surgery.

We don't know how Manning is going to play right after surgery because he hasn't done that in the pros.

Dungy has become a master of injury misinformation. This is a great point that you have made.

Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy downplayed a report that Manning recently had a second medical procedure on his knee, the Terre Haute News reports. "I saw something on a blog and I think you have to go to the person who wrote that and interview him. I’ll leave it at that," Dungy said

Former NFL front office executive Mike Lombardi wrote on his blog that Manning underwent an unannounced second medical procedure on his knee and he'll be out much longer than expected. Dungy didn't deny the report outright, which is worrisome. Plus, the Colts haven't been forthcoming with injury information (such as Marvin Harrison's knee injury last season) and often fail to announce when medical procedures have taken place. The Colts still say Manning has a good chance to play in Week 1, and he's at least walking on the sidelines at practice, but his status will remain uncertain until he gets out on the practice field.

These guys have turned into bigger liars then the PATS.

From what I have been reading they had real swelling problems with Mannings' knee. This is just in rehab mode, practicing and playing will produce a lot more stress.
