Kevin Curtis out for "awhile"

ESPN - Eagles' Curtis out 'a while'; to have sports hernia surgery - NFL

the report has curtis with a sports hernia, out until at least week 2. sounds like a nagging injury that will bother all season. on top of that, reggie brown injured his hamstring last week in the preseason game's first play.

what is this team going to do now? theyve got greg lewis and hank baskett, worse even than the old freddie mitchell / todd stinkston duo. hernias and hamstrings are not exactly great injuries for WRs to deal with. they tend to bother all season long.

Kevin Curtis has sports hernia

from CBS Sportsline:
'Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that WR Kevin Curtis had a sports hernia that requires surgery. There is no timetable for his return. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday. "This happened in the game, in our last game. He tried to work through it, but he's unable to function very well with it during practice, so it looks like we'll go this direction," Reid said, adding that Hank Baskett and Greg Lewis will split Curtis' preseason reps (not necessarily regular-season reps) and that the club will not pursue another receiver.'

to me, heres the real question here -- how long until anquan boldin is in philadelphia?

boldin is unhappy. mcnabb needs a receiver. the eagles have an unhappy lito shepphard waiting to be traded. the eagles know their window with mcnabb and westy is closing.

im calling it right now. boldin will be in philadelphia before the season starts.

Damn that would be awesome for both Boldin and McNafro.

I could definately see that happening. But it also sounds like the Cardinals don't want to trade him.

ive always felt like Q is the closest wr in the nfl to TO by skill set and his strong upper body and ability to run after the catch. and we all know how well mcnabb and TO played. it just makes altogether too much sense.

According to all sources..there is no way in hell Arizona is dealing boldin. They can't afford to redo the deal, and they won't trade him. So I guess we wait and see if Boldin holds out...but I don't see him in Philly any time soon

Boldin in Philly would be HUGE. That would really be fun.

Curtis will be out for at least a month, maybe a month and a half. I had a sports hernia, 2 actually, and they had me out for 2 months.

McNugget likes Avant on the fade routes. Avant may have a chance to see playing time as well. I do like DeShaun Jackson. Between him and Westbrook flying around creating matchup, maybe the other WRs don't have to be that great. Let's face it, it's not like McNugget lost his #1 WR (Westy.)

Man, this is a pretty big blow to Philly. Brown and Curtis both hurting! Boldin makes sense, but it's not happening IMO. Arizona has dug in and they don't seem to be budging.

So we have several names floating about and one could make a nice sleeper: Jackson, Baskett, Avant, Lewis....McNabb has always excelled at spreading it around, but man, at some point you have to have someone to catch the ball......

It's not out of the realm of possibility for the Cardinals to trade him, but I don't see the Cardinal budging on this unless the Eagles come up with a huge deal to get Boldin. That just doesn't seem like something the Eagles front office would do. They would have to give up draft picks (good ones), then go and sign Boldin at top 5 wide receiver money. I don't see Philly mortgaging the future.

As for the Cardinals, why would they even try to trade him? It's not like the guy in entering the last year of his contract. He still has 3 years remaining on his 4 year extension that he signed going into the 2006 season.

If he simply wanted out of town, that would be one thing, as the team that got him could take over his current salary. But give up high draft picks, and then have to work out a 10-12 Million/Year deal for the guy on top of what you lost in draft picks?

Boldin isnt going anywhere. Like you said he still has three years on his contract and if hes serious about a raise he needs to go out and prove it this year. He was busted up last year so I dont really see his point in train ing camp.
