It good that they made this determination now so The O can find it's groove.

Wow. A guy who's played on 7 different teams in his career is your starter....Martz is just trying to hard to prove that he can make anyone a superstar player. Dude, Warner was a freak of nature, and, let's face it, he had a lot of weapons. SF is going to stink this year.

What choice does he have? Alex Smith has sucked. Royally sucked.

This is a good move by the Niners. Say goodbye to Alex Smith.

I don't see how this is mortgaging their future. Best guy plays, and JTO looks to be the best guy at the moment.

Yep, at some point, your draft position means nothing.

Nolan needs to win. If this guy is getting the damn job done then go with it and see what happens.

The point being Alex is on his fourth OC in four years. JT knows the system and is thus getting the reps. Nolan can't afford to let Smith learn the system like he probably would if the situation was different.

No way JT is the future of the franchise. Smith could have been. Now that first round pick and three years of development are looking to go up in smoke, just to save Nolan's job.

You'll understand better when Alex goes to an organization with its head out of its ass.

I was just about to say the same thing!! I'm still amazed how long people will defend #1 picks, simply b/c they were #1 picks. Smith has had ample time to impress and has failed to do so. JTO may not be the future, but neither was Alex Smith.

Alex Smith I think is in the worst starters thread already. JT may end up there...time will tell, but at this point, Nolan has nothing to lose.
