4-12, 24 yards, 0 touchdown, 3 interceptions. Not a good stat line when you are trying to keep your job in the "dress rehearsal" game.

I see a trade in the future......

San Francisco gets Matt Leinart......
Arizona gets Alex Smith......

I just dont think Leinart is tough enough and mentally ready to be an NFL QB. He may never be, and I applaud Kurt Warner for kicking ass and taking names.

I am shocked at all the people on the Leinhardt train this year. The guy has proven he could care less about football. He got paid and now he has his weed. booze and women. He will be in a movie soon but not the NFL.

When we discussed Leinart in an earlier thread, one of the things I mentioned was that Leinart was going to get every opportunity to win the starting job, and that all he needed to do was show that he was serious about playing football, something he hadn't done since arriving in the NFL.

Apparently, he wasn't very serious about it this year either.

It had to happen, and I am happy for Warner.

The only question is can Warner stay healthy this year? If he can, then this team will be in the playoffs.

Shouldn't we wait for Wisenhunt to say this before we start uncorking the champagne?

If this is true, the Cardinals have officially given up on Leinert and his confidence may now be shot for the rest of his career. I don't think there was a question of talent, just a question of motivation and work ethic in Leinert. Now the Cardinals need to unload his contract now, while he may still have some value.

It would be rather funny if this turned out to be a false report. Not like Mortenson hasn't screwed up many times before, LOL

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt refuted an ESPN.com report that he has decided to use Kurt Warner over Matt Leinart as the team’s starting quarterback for the season opener at San Francisco.

Speaking on KTAR radio Monday morning, Whisenhunt said nothing has changed since Saturday night’s preseason win at Oakland and that he hadn’t even looked at tape from the game to make any decision.
Whisenhunt says no decision yet

It's official now

Quote:
Experience beat out potential in the fight for starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said yesterday that Kurt Warner would be the starter over Matt Leinart when Arizona opens its season Sept. 7 at San Francisco.

“It was a fair evaluation of that position but it was also tough because both guys played well,” Whisenhunt said. “Both guys did a good job.”

If Matt had any confidence left he can kiss it all goodbye.
