Arrow Feedback - Take It To The Bank, Part Deux

You have seen the first installment, now it is Brandon's turn to pop off a few hot sports opinions, with Miller popping in to throw some cold water on a couple of these fires.

Take It To The Bank - Vol.2

Let's hear from you!

Two of last year’s biggest sleepers will rise to the top again, Ryan Grant and Earnest Graham.
Both of these guys were spectacular in half seasons last year. Both of them put up big TD number. Both are great receivers out of the backfield. Both play in offenses that are set up with the run game. And both would be first round fantasy draft picks this year if they had flashier highlight reel runs or were former 1st round NFL draft picks. Look where someone like Marshawn Lynch is being taken and these two both did better last year. Don’t overlook them just because they don’t have the pedigree.

Bounced Check
For a guy who is very progressive in thought, this one surprises me Brandon. This is not 2007, and Grant and Graham are simply not talented enough to maintain their magic carpet ride. The rug gets pulled out from underneath both of them this year, so let’s start with Grant. Grant was very impressive least season running through large holes as Brett Favre kept the defenses more than honest. Well we all know the Favre story and I’m less then confident that Rogers will demand the same respect from defenses. This means more attention and less room; not to mention less scoring opportunities. Not good news for Grant owners. Add to that the fact he already has a nagging hamstring injury and Grant will be an afterthought by season’s end. As for Graham, I just see him getting less opportunities then he had last season. Old Man Tampa himself has returned, and Warrick Dunn will get his opportunities. This will cut into Graham’s production as he becomes a two down back and not the three down back he was out of necessity last season. Graham also has to prove he can sustain this success, my guess is he doesn’t and proves he’s a nice complimentary back that had his 15 minutes of fame. – Jeremy Miller
I have to agree with MT here. With Favre gone, I don't think it matters whether the team is "set up with the run game"; without a passing threat (or at least as much of one), defenses will focus on stuffing Grant's run.

But who knows, maybe Rogers will be the next Favre or Brady....

Thumbs up

I like it. And it has nothing to do with me saying and thinking these same things for awhile. Okay, it has everything to do with that.

there have been quite a few successful fantasy RBs in history that didnt have favre or brady protecting them. and a good handful of unsuccessful fantasy RBs who did, for that matter. its not exactly a magical formula. the offensive line made grant successful last year, not brett favre, and that hasnt gone anywhere.

Good stuff. I gotta agree with Miller on the Grant/Graham issue. Green Bay will be a RRBC by midseason...take that to the bank!

I agree with everything but Todd Heap. Thats just because I cant allow that guy to sit on my bench all year hearing hes going to play and never does. Yes A Marvin Harrison wannabe.

Also I havnt taking the chance on Mcnabb either. He may have a great year but I just do not have the nerve to take him.

If all the rest goes as planned in this thread. There are championships to be won.

yeah, that is sort of a theme on many of the guys i mentioned. bulger, mcnabb, heap, harrison, these are all guys who have burned people before and they wont let themselves get burned again. i figure if you are deep enough to allow that risk, its one worth taking. or 2 or 6 worth taking for that matter!

I agree with almost everything Mr. Anderson, except for the Grant/Graham section where I agree with Mr. Miller for the reasons he stated, and also about TO. I do not think TO will "check out" because he got his payday, this is a different TO than we have seen in the past. He will live up to expectations as long as he is healthy, which is my only concern due to his age.

Good piece Bomb. I enjoyed it. I love the balls you guys have to just throw your predictions out there. It's good stuff whether it's popular opinion or not.

I could go on and on about how wrong you are on TO or how Mr. Soup Can McNabb is only average but that wouldn't be fun.

I'd rather nod my head and agree on how good Earnest Graham could be or how Brady and Braylon will disappoint.

Amen brother. Agree with Miller on Graham but not Grant being busts this season. Graham just isn't a top caliber runningback. He had a fluke last season and to his credit did good things with his opportunity. IF he was the next big thing instead of a third stringer starting by default he would have been given a bigger contract this offseason and Caddy would have be garaged for the season. Both those points show me he is going to be a backup at best but more likely a role player in a RBBC hell.

Grant had huge holes last season but (and GBG might hunt me down for this) GB will be better off without Favre. What you'll see out of GB this year is the coach calling the offensive plays which will result in less bombs down the middle and more ball control. Enter Grant who if he can stay healthy will continue to rack up yards and maybe more tds this season. Rodgers doesn't suck and he has some great weapons to throw the ball to so I don't see teams lining up to stop the run on 1st and 2nd downs. Grant will again get a ton of carries.

I have to disagree with McFad being a top 10 runningback this year. Sorry to be the wet blanket but there are only a few Purple Jesus' every decade and I would be SHOCKED if he comes in and takes the league by storm. Instead of Adrian Peterson I think McFadd will be more like Bush in his rookie year who did well but equated to the hype was not what some had hoped for.

Other than that you and I are on the same page with McNugget, TO, and Ray Rice so you know you're right.
