Cowboys WR Sam Hurd Hurt/ 2-4 Weeks/Stanback Back At Practice

Sam Hurd suffered a left high-ankle sprain in Thursday's preseason finale, the Dallas Morning News reports. With Miles Austin, Isaiah Stanback both injured Hurd inherited the Cowboys #3 Wr spot. He was just starting to be productive before this injury. If he does indeed have a high ankle sprain it means he will miss a couple of weeks at least maybe as much as 6 weeks.

This hurts. Nobody (that is healthy) on this roster is ready to handle the #3 spot.

Hopefully it isn't a bad sprain because the Cowboys are gonna have to lean on the run game a little more than usual until Hurd and/or Austin are back.

Well, maybe not week 1, Cleveland's secondary sucks.

it could end up a close race between Hurd and Austin as far as getting back goes.

They already have a #3 receiver-Crayton. Witten is their #2.

This is completely not the point. Witten isn't lining up as a wide receiver, and this leave the team short handed in 3WR sets in terms of experience.

I think this is a possibility as well, if Hurd can become more consistent.

The perfect scenario would be for Hurd to be able to properly fill the #2 role on the outside, and use Crayton in the slot where he can be the most productive.

Tim MacMahon, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones could be used as the slot receiver during the team's Week 1 game because of the injuries to the Cowboys wide receivers

I hope this is the case

Hurd will reportedly be out from two-to-four weeks with a high ankle sprain, the Dallas Morning News reports.

This sounds somewhat encouraging. It is on the shorter end of the high ankle sprain spectrum.

Well considering that Wade Phillips is talking about putting Witten in the slot it sounds like IT IS THE POINT

Felix in the slot, Also consider how much steam Barber can pick up with a pass out of the backfield.

Dallas Cowboys WR Isaiah Stanback (shoulder) practiced Monday, Sept. 1, with a harness to protect his left shoulder.

Still has a week of practice to go, gutsy showing for a team in a pinch.
