Panthers Steve Smith May Need Shoulder Surgery After Season

According to the Rock Hill Herald, Panthers wide receiver may surgery on his shoulder, which he injured during a preseason game this year against the Washington Redskins.

For Steve Smith owners, this has to be a concern regarding how he will perform after coming back from his suspension. Injuries don't tend to get better during the season if you continue working that area of the body rather than resting it, they usually get worse. That said, I don't know exactly what the injury is, but Smith plans on playing all season with the pain.

This is a concern that needed to be factored into the drafting of Steve Smith this year. Great playmaker, but the guy has a smallish body and is beginning to show signs of breaking down.

Small speedsters tend to not last a long time as a legit #1. There are exceptions, but the rule usually prevails.
