Tom Brady Done For Season - ACL and MCL Tears

No concrete information (surprise from the Pats huh), but rumors are flying that this is an ACL. Our own gmrcharity reports that he hard it was a ligament tear. Favre was asked in his press conference if he had heard about Brady and his response was: "yeah, I just heard, that's terrible. ACL injury I heard". At this point it's all speculation, but take a look at the impact on the hit below, doesn't look good at all! Post any updates here.

MOSS SAYS HIT ON BRADY WAS DIRTY

Patriots receiver Randy Moss isn’t happy about the hit on quarterback Tom Brady, which could knock Brady out for the entire 2008 season.

“I don’t really want to get into it, but me personally, I think it was dirty,” Moss said, according to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe. “Like I said, I didn’t really see anything; I was running down the field. When I came back in [and watched it], it looked dirty to me. I’ve never been a dirty player. I honestly don’t even know how to play dirty. I just play the game. Any time you see something like that, that looks foul, it looks dirty, it opens your eyes. So, me personally, it looked dirty.”

The Chiefs player who delivered the hit, safety Bernard Pollard, disagrees.

“The play was not intentional,” Pollard said. “People can call me a dirty player, you can call me whatever you want to call me, it’s not a dirty play. When you have 230 pounds on your back, and you’re trying to go forward, things will happen. I saw the ball was still in his hands and I tried to get to him. I tried to get up and get to him. But I couldn’t get up, so I just tried to grab him. It was not an intentional play.”

Pollard also addressed what happened after the play.

“All I heard was him scream and yell. When I heard him scream and yell, I knew something was wrong. That [stinks], because he’s a great player. He really is. He’s a top-notch guy. I’ve never really personally talked to him, but from seeing his interviews and everything else. . . . I’m sorry and that’s immediately what I said afterward. I went to my coach and let him know – ‘Coach, this was not intentional.’ Coach said ‘I know, I saw.’ My coach knows me and my teammates know me. I’ve never been a player like that, never been tagged as a player like that ever.”

I love how Moss said he doesn't want to get into it, then gave his opinion.

On a serious note, this news sucks. I mean, I hate watching the guy win every freaking week, but I really don't want him to be hurt. Can only hope the MRI comes back negative and he can get back on the field ASAP.

Screw all this apathy for Brady. I hope his ass is shelfed for the year. I got no Patriots besides Maroney on my bench in one league. That's what it's all about!!

Really ou think its true?

I'm pretty sure he is out for the year but I've been to other sites and Yahoo is the only site reporting this. Personally I think they are trying to beat everyone and break the story first and are just pretty sure like myself.

Fact #4 – If history is any real indicator, Tom Brady may have about a 50% chance of finishing in this year’s top 10 QBs.

Okay, so that’s less of a fact and more of a postulate. But listen up. Tom Brady had a season for the ages in 2007, a monster season, if you will. If you go back and take a look at other such monster seasons in NFL history – we’ll call any season where the QB scores 390 or more (almost 25 ppg) a “monster season – you’ll find seven other such seasons: Dan Marino ’84 and ’86, Steve Young ’94 and ’98, Kurt Warner ’99, Daunte Culpepper ’04, and Peyton Manning ‘04

So what happened to each of those QBs after their monster seasons, their fantasy MVP adventures? Well, they hardly fared as well. In fact, it wasn’t even close. In five of the seven year-after seasons, the QB was injured and missed at least 4 games. In fact, three of the seven year-after season resulted in that quarterback missing over half of the year and becoming nothing but a monster fantasy bust.

The only two quarterbacks who played a full 16 game slate during their year-after campaigns were Dan Marino ’85 and Peyton Manning ’05. So how did they fare? Marino dropped 18 passing TDs, and Manning dropped 21! Both of them dropped 8-900 passing yards as well. Let’s put it another way. Marino and Manning essentially regressed to their career averages. Manning threw 28 TDs that next year, right at his career average of 28.6 not counting the monster season. Marino tossed 30 TDs the year-after, just above his career average of 28.5 outside of that season.

In all, the average monster QB in his year-after campaign dropped about 24 TDs a season, and three of them actually lost 33 TDs apiece. To be fair, three of the seven monster QB years were had by guys that were big time running threats, and that naturally puts one at a greater risk for injury. But Marino and Warner also were significantly injured, and they are as much of pocket passers as one can be.

You are probably thinking, no big deal, this is all history. This is Tom Brady we are talking about – he’s not going to drop off that record pace! Let me ask you this – you don’t think folks would’ve said the exact same thing about every one of those QBs above as well? Facts are facts. Monster seasons take a toll on a quarterback, and even those that survive still see a huge dent in their numbers. Brady may lose 8-900 passing yards and drop back to just above his career TD average.

So pencil him in around 4000 yards and 26-28 TDs this season… if he does stay healthy all year. It will still place him in the top 10, but probably closer to the middle than you’d think.

For those that have him as you starting QB on your fantasy...that sucks!! I was lucky enough to have him last year along with R Moss. Thats a real blow though.

Kiss the patriots superbowl hopes goodbye cuz Cassell isn't taking them there.
