I gotta wonder how many AFC management types have new found hope all of a sudden with the Pats having a blown engine.

This does open the AFC up.

Here is some food for thought. If Cassell was so bad...then how in the world can wanting Quinn be wanted...when he has beaten both out in the past?? Culpepper is not the answer. Actually, Pennington would have been a solid fit...but he is gone.

I just don't see anyone out there that is that much better to go get.

Culpepper whored out to anyone who would listen. I think he called or visited with most teams over the years.

Matt Cassell is like Jim Sorgi. Just backing up a dude that will never go down. Only this time Superman did go down.

I didn't think New England was winning the division this year with Brady, and was a wildcard at best. This is the Jets division this year, with our without Tom Brady under center.

The one thing to remember is that the Pats were playing the friggin Chiefs, and even before Brady got hurt, the Patriots were not looking good in this game.

Did I wish for injury? no. Did I feel it was going to happen? yes. Didn't think it would be the first game though. The team got overly cocky last year while running up the score, and Brady got extremly overly cocky in the two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl.

Report I have heard now is that it is more then an acl and maybe career ending. Look for the news to break shortly.

As one who has gone through the surgery and rehab for this sort of injury, I will say that Brady is out for the season. I was not allowed to bend my knee for over a month, except under controlled circumstances. I lost all the muscle tone in my leg and it took about 3 months to get it back once my rehab started in earnest. Jerry Rice came back from this injury in 15 weeks, but broke his kneecap (likely related to his swift return) his first game back. Brady needs to get his knee fixed and come back next season.

If it is the same as the news from yesterday afternoon, it is not only ligament tears, it is also major cartilage damage.

Ton of speculation going on right now, with newsmedia and various football sites that love to run with uncomfirmed rumors, but if the leak that yahoo's Silver got yesterday is true, this is season ending at best.

Dude, it was week one. Other than Atlanta, who really did look good?

This was the Patriots division before, and likely in 2009 it will be again.

That ligament just sent the title to New York.....and we will never know if Favre could have wrestled it away from Brady

This guy is a drop back passer not a runningback. His whole knee could be trash and as long as he can lope around he will still be the Pats QB.

They can be very much career ending. It isn't that uncommon if you think about it. Usually happens to running backs, but that is because it is the running backs (or linemen) that generally take the bad hits.

Knees are much more important to a quarterback than that. If you can't move side to side in the pocket, you can't be successful. If you can't plant properly, your throws will never be accurate.

I think Tim Rattay was the first QB announced as making a visit. Not a bad idea as a veteran backup.

He will heal as best he can. They will slap on a knee brace. He will plant and throw just fine.

You better believe Craft and Co will spare no expense what-so-ever in fixing whatever maybe wrong with Tom Brady. Im sure until yesterday they planned to get at least two more titles out of their show pony.

If the gloom and doom is as bad as some are making it out to be, they maybe looking for a starter to last them a couple years.

Rattay (as the article says) and Brady were targeted by the Pats in the 6th that year. They just went with Brady because he was taller.

Here is another one to bounce off you guys....

This was a finesse, spread offense team. With crap under center, now the load would seemigly fall to Maroney and the offensive line to be able to line up and play power football.

I can't tell you that I think they could do it.....

I have heard nothing from the media but from a very reliable source. I used to work with Athletes before going into full time Ministry and this is coming from inside. They have pushed back the news conferance to 3pm and it is believed right now that it is multiple ligaments.
