Colston out for at least a month

Just added at PFT

COLSTON OUT FOR AT LEAST A MONTH
Posted by Mike Florio on September 10, 2008, 10:00 a.m.

The rash of injuries to big-name stars is continuing. And that’s bad news for the Saints.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that receiver Marques Colston will miss four-to-six weeks after suffering a torn ligament in his thumb.

Colston had surgery to reattach the ligament on Tuesday.

In his absence, receivers David Patten, Devery Henderson, and Terrance Copper will have expanded roles. Also, it might give 2007 first-rounder Robert Meacham a chance to provide a return on the team’s investment. Meacham was inactive for all of the 2007 season, and he was inactive on Sunday against the Bucs.

I missed that as well. The saints have a lot of receivers but, obviously, Colston is the one they can least afford to do without.

I haven't seen it anywhere else but Wednesday is the day to officially report injuries to the NFL for the Wednesday injury report.

I just got a ESPN text update on it. That is some bad luck for me. I have him as my WR1 and Henderson, Patten and Meacham are all owned in my league.

FOX is becoming the place to go for just about any breaking NFL News. Jay Glazier seems to be on top of every story for the past several months.

Meachem will be the biggest beneficiary, as he will now be activated. The only reason he wasn't for week one is Copper and lance Moore are very good special teamers. Now, Meachem replaces Colston, and Henderson and Patten step up, but maintain their positions.

So your saying Meachem is going to walks in as the #1 after not even being activated in week 1 ??

This hurts the Saints. Whoever steps in is not going to be the caliber receiver that Colston is.

No...............activated to replace Colstons roster spot. Henderson was the #3 and Patten the #2, so I don't even know if they will change that. I could see Meachem getting the start with Patten, only because this team goes three wide so often. I'm saying he is the main beneficiary because he now is activated and finds the field. Remember, all Devery did was catch the one bomb from the 3 hole, and the post by Orgazmo says terrence Copper. The Coach was looking for a way to get Meachem activated though, and sadly that has been accomplished

I don't feel this affects this offense like the loss of a TO, or a Randy Moss would affect those two teams, but i totally agree with the talent void with him being out. That is why the team did so well. Colston was on the field and a constant threat.

Meachem is probably available. The top two Wrs will be Patten and Henderson. Copper will also play. I agree that Meachem will be activated...but I don't think he sees the field yet. I think he still has something to prove to HC...or he would have been active anyway.
