The Bengals RB situation

They shipped out Rudi Johnson and handed the keys to Chris Perry. Then 5 weeks into the season they bring in Cedric Benson and give the guy half the carries.

Is this a sign of things to come? Will Perry be relegated to an after thought by Benson?

Perry is having some fumbling issues. Good chance that issue will move him to a backup role, as Cedric Benson looked pretty decent this week for his first game with the team.

Would not surprise me to see Perry losing his starting job as fast as he got it if he doesn't show significant improvement quickly.

I somewhat agree. Benson will probably be given more carries...but he will get hurt again and they will end up back with Perry.

Perry has fumbled the ball 5 times this year, two more then the next highest back in the NFL. This is the issue here. If Perry can not hold onto the ball, Benson will see more carries. They also re-signed Kenny Watson today and could work him in more as well. One thing to note, out of Benson's 10 carries, 6 of them came all in a row when they brought him in and gave his the ball on 6 straight plays. So 60% of his carries came on one drive.

looks like the Bengals are trying to put themselves in position to draft Beanie Wells.
