I was listen to Dan Patrick today and he was talking about an article that Jerry Mondesire wrote he is publisher of the Philadelphia Sun and Head of the NAACP in Philly. I don't agree with this guy but I just don't understand what McNabb has done for all this backlash.

"But who can forget your mind numbing fourth-quarter collapse in last year's Super Bowl against New England.
Andy Reid may not have seen it. Owner Jeff Lurie may have missed it on the videotaped replay. But Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder "saw" it. You choked brother."

This quote is the funniest thing I ever heard. I never knew that politicians had a sense of humor.

When he says:

"Normally this column talks very little about sports because the games that grown men play pale in comparison to the great issues of racism, politics, social calamities, health crisis's, war and peace, etc.; which gives us plenty of fertile territory to explore and pontificate about."

It makes it sound like he doesnt even like football. If he doesnt like it then why say something about it. This guy doesnt know what he is talking about.

Didnt Rush Limbaugh make some comments similar to this a couple of years back?? Now look where Rush is.........nowhere to be found.

Ignorance is an ugly thing, you should never commit it to paper for all prosperity.

Rush Limbaugh said that the only reason McNabb got press was because the media was in a conspiracy to make a black QB seem successful. That was moronic because McNabb WAS successful. He was/is a pro bowl QB. Had he mentioned Kordell Stewart then I wouldn't argue with him.

All Mcnabb did was go to 4 NFC champ games, and one super bowl, and only had a good ( albeit mental) WR in only one of those year. Also, he, Antione Walker, and Simeon Rice were on the same hoops team at Mt Carmel high in Chicago

I didn't know that McNabb went to school with Walker and Rice.

My ex boyfriend worked at the county with Walker's mom and he told me how she was just working until her son got his pay he said she was lazy.

While I love McNabb and consider him a tremendous quarterback with a great past and solid future - there is one aspect of this old, stupid article that is very possibly true.

It is the pervasive understanding of many philly sportswriters and fans that McNabb is seriously racially sensitive. his comments about Owens and him going at it being 'black on black crime' seem to back up this notion that people have had. As an accompaniment to this most people believe that McNabb refuses to use his natural scrambling ability because he doesnt want his game getting labeled as 'black quarterback' style in the mold of Michael Vick et al. In other words, good physical talent but not a brilliant pocket passer.

I hope McNabb can honestly come to see himself as just a Quarterback, and not worry about what people think of his race. It'd be better for the city, better for the team, and it'd be better for McNabb.
