A.J. Hawk
Outside Linebacker - Ohio State - Senior
  • Height- 6'1"
  • Weight-240
  • 2005 Lombardi Award Winner
Things may change by next week when the top of the draft order sorts itself out a little more, but right now I have the 49ers selecting 3rd and taking Hawk. I think Hawk is one of the top 2-3 defensive players coming out of this draft, not just for immediate impact, but long term success. He is always around the ball and is a definate playmaker on the field.

I would be very suprised if A.J. Hawk falls out of the top 5 this year.

Hawk will go very high, but only to the 49ers if Julian Peterson jumps.

SF shouldn't make the same mistake as the Browns or Texans. They have to protect their QB investment, either by giving him the tools up front or a great running back. This is one of the best offensive tackle drafts in recent memory! The 49ers should take advantage and trade down. Many good offensive linemen will be available later!

They likely won't be able to find a suitor at No.7..... maybe they can get the Rams to leapfrog the Cards for a DE, but other than that... I don't see it.

I think he is simply commenting on me having Hawk going to the 49ers at #2, where I thought they would be drafting.

That's right. No way he lasts to number seven. He's definitely a top five pick. Rumors that he clocked a 4.40 forty are unbelievable. Look forward to see what he does at the combine.

Any word on Manny Lawson (DE/OLB) of NC State coming out early?

Also, heard ESPN announcers commenting that Ahmad Brooks (LB-VA) has missed most of the season with a back problem. Thought he had knee issues. Any information on him would be appreciated as well.

A.J. Hawk probably raised his value a little tonight in the Fiesta Bowl.

Can't get much higher IMO. Definite top five.

4 or 5 players from this national championship are going in the top 10. Crazy.

Paul Posluszny, ILB from Penn State, just tore up his knee. So much for him coming-out a year early! What a shame.

I'm a die hard OSU fan, and after seeing him play for 4 years all I can say is anyone lucky enough to grab him has one hell of a player! Guy is amazingly fast, hits like a train, always in the right space, and tough as nails!!! He will be a multile time all pro, and should make an impact for the word go!

Hawk should be taken #5 after ... Young, Leinart, Bush and Maroney.

GO PACK GO

I don't think it'll happen no matter how beautifully awesomely great it would be. The Raiders just don't have that kind of luck. lol

So far, I am not seeing anywhere that he drops below 5, and 99% of the mock drafts right now have him going to Green Bay.

The best thing I see about AJ Hawk is no braces on his knees. I hope that remains the case for a good, long time. He looks like a legitimate NFL linebacker already and will make Packer fans very happy.
