LenDale White
Running Back - USC
  • Height -6'2"
  • Weight - 235
  • 40 Time - 4.49
  • Junior
Who is the best running back to come out of USC this year? While the top pick will most likely be Reggie Bush, there are many out there that believe LenDale White is the better running back. At this point, that is my belief as well.

I expect White to go in the first round, somewhere in the middle. I picture him as a Jerome Bettis type of running back, only he will be a little faster. If he can develop the quickness and vision that Bettis has displayed for years, he will be an unstoppable running back in the NFL. If not, he will flame out like Bam Morris.

Just please let him go to anywhere but Pittsburgh!! He would be the perfect fit in that system and be a STUD! I like White and feel he will make an imediate impact.

You're absolutely on point, Miller.. out of all the backs in the Draft (including DeAngelo Williams), I drool over seeing White in the Black & Gold... but I have heard on several radio shows that Green Bay has gone on record after the National Championship game that he would not make it past them at #5. I have to believe this is a futile effort for someone to trade into that spot and give the Pack the farm, but who knows... seems to me they have many MANY worse needs than a RB at this point.

At any rate, Lendale White and Fast Willie in the same backfield would make Ben's life a cakewalk, and you could even see 2x 1,000 yard backs in the 'Burgh for the first time since Harris/Bleier.

The other guy I have earmarked for Pittsburgh would be Santonio Holmes, but I severely doubt he'll last to the end of the 1st round, where the Steel looks to be slotted now after their win vs. Indy. Maybe hometown boy Greg Lee in the 2nd ? I have WR right up there as a need area this draft.

I cant decide whether my early pick for the the best runningback from this class will be LenDale White or Laurence Maroney.

That said, by the time the 2006 arrives, neither of these guys may be my pick.

I saw ESPN projecting White to fall to the Vikes in the 1st round. That would be just fine with me. The Vikes haven't had a big RB since Chuck Foreman (I know they had Herschel Walker, but he really didn't do much for them).
LenDale White would be a perfect fit for the Vikes -- maybe Daunte Culpepper will stop trying to be a fullback?

You think Minny takes Lendale over Maroney.. the hometown guy? They have similar games although White is slightly bigger. The luxury ya'll have is that Mewelde Moore is already a high-quality 3rd Down back with good catching skills.

Well, either would satisfy me. Maroney would be much easier to sign, I'm sure as he's already familiar with the Twin Cities. Its hard to say which I'd like more.

How many years are the Vikes gonna draft a running back. I understand that at least one maybe even two will be gone in the offseason, but i think Moore will be a good back if Childress gives him a hance instead of giving him less and less carries every week after he has a good game, like mike tit mouse did.

As for the steelers needing a a WR they have 4 on their roster right now.
We'll Resign Randal EL, Hines is locked up and Wilson will more then likely be re-signed to give Fred Gibson at least one more year.

Gibson would have been a 1st or 2nd rounder had it not been for injuries and would have played more then he has this year if Ced wasnt playing so well.

Steelers should be on the phone right now to do whatever it can to move up and get white.

I think it would be a huge mistake for the Vikings to draft a running back. They have plenty at this point.

That's true they do have a lot, but who knows how durable Mwelde Moore will be. I dont think Lendale or Laurence would be a bad choice and frankly the only other spot they could go is OL and get a guy like Orien Green. They just drafted Williamson, they made big free agent and trade acquisitions on defense NApolean Harris, Pat Williams, Darren Sharper, Fred Smoot, I think you just need some more production from these guys.

Dont be shocked if the Jets draft White even that high because this is an RB weak draft

I've actually heard some rumbling that the Vikes are ready to clean house after last years Orgy Boat incident. It seems that they are getting a lot of resistance to public funds for their new stadium so they have to clean up their image. This means that they will be getting rid of some quality players to portray an image of morality. this would cause them to be very active in free agency and possibly trading down to stockpile picks.

It is an interesting theory, even though I think that the salary cap may prevent them from doing as much as they would like to do.

LenDale White should go around 13 or 14, either to the Baltimore Ravens or to the Philadelphia Eagles.

If he gets by those two teams, then he might fall all the way to 25, where Denver, despite all their running backs, might find it impossible to resist him, especially if their desire for a quality defensive end is fruitless (if Tamba Hali and Kiwi are both gone, which they should be). LenDale White running in Denver would be like Terrell Davis returning from retirement.

Lendale White will be a great addition to any backfield this season. He is powerful and can find the open hole and burst through it, though he lacks true breakaway speed. I see him being T.J. Duckett at worst and Curtis Martin at best. I don't think he'll fall all the way to the Steelers, but that would be an ideal fit.

Sorry, Denver drafts at 22, not 25.

When you can see a guy fitting in well on nearly every team that could use an RB or upgrade at RB, that's a telltale sign he'll be a huge riser before the draft.

I like Zepp's idea of White to the Jets at #4.

I believe Kubiak will take D'Brickashaw Ferguson first overall if push comes to shove. You'd have to be a looney tune to believe he'll waste the #1 overall pick on a RB, or to believe he's going to replace QB David Carr.

That said, we may actually get to see Bush fall to #4 to the Jets, so that would effectively push White down a little.

LenDale in Glendale is the new catch phrase around Arizona.....

The Jets are now talking about Cutler.

Ok...let's look at the facts. The Steelers cut Fred Gibson before the season started. they wanted to sign him to the practice squad, but he went to Miami, then he was cut from there. He is now a free agent, b/c he sucks. They DID keep Nate Washington who supposedly is extremely coachable and reliable.

On to the certainties for the future...they will allow Randle El to test free agency where he will be overpaid to play in either Chicago or Washington. (He's from Chi-town) They will then attempt to re-sign Quincy Morgan and draft a WR early, I have no idea who, but that guy from Florida sounds realistic in the second round.

Please, the Jets aren't seriously considering Cutler. Unless Pennington goes before the draft, they aren't even going to look at a QB in the first round.
