Santonio Holmes is a high 1st round projection, regarded as the #1 wide receiver prospect in the 2006 NFL Draft. He posesses amazing speed and is a 2 year starter for The Ohio State Buckeyes. As of this post, I have Santonio Holmes projected as the 14th pick in the Sports Outlaw Mock Draft to the Philadelphia Eagles.

I'm a huge Buckeye fan and have seen a lot of Holmes the last 3 years. The kid runs great routes and has amazing speed and good hands.....yet the fact that he is the #1 rated WR tealls a lot about this WR class. Holmes will be a good pro, yet I don't know if I see him as a standout #1 WR. His speed is what will make him a weapon, but his lack of size may be the biggest drawback. We have seen sppedy WR's (S. Smith, S. Moss) with less then stellar size make a big splash, but it could take him a couple year to do this.

I would say I'm intrigued by Homes, but would not be doing back-flips over him as the best WR available.

On a side note, the fact that he was not even the fastest WR on the buckeyes tells you alot about the scary speed that Ted Ginn has!
