Vernon Davis is the best TE in the draft this year. He is an absolute beast - fast & very strong. I don't think I saw a dozen times this year where one defender was able to tackle him & that's not hyperbole. I believe he also led the ACC in receiving yards per game this past season.

Well at the combine Davis proves he is #1 by running a 4.38 - 40 and what he called a "disappointing" 33 reps @ 225lbs.

Here is some more stats:

Broad Jump
Vernon Davis Maryland 10-foot-8
Marcedes Lewis UCLA 9-foot-10
Leonard Pope Georgia 9-foot-10
Jason Pociask Wisconsin 9-foot-7
Ton Scheffler W. Michigan 9-foot-7
Owen Daniels Wisconsin 9-foot-6
Quinnn Sypniewski Colorado 9-foot-6

Vertical Jump
Vernon Davis Maryland 42
Leonard Pope Georgia 37½
David Thomas Texas 37½
Marcedes Lewis UCLA 37
Joe Klopfenstein Colorado 36
Garrett Mills Tulsa 35½

He might just be a top 7 pick now....

Davis was the Stud of the combine. At 6'2" "H" back comes to mind...frightening.

Those numbers were simply scary. No doubt he becomes the 1st tight end taken. may change alot of plans up at the top of draft as well.

I got to ask a question here. for those who say you can't take Davis first due to how important he is to the offense.....then explain to me please the following te's. Gonzales, Gates. Oh...how about Baltimore's only Superbowl and Shannon Sharpe?

It all depends on how you look at it. Was it due to lack of talent at WR...or Rb...or was it due to superior talent at TE? It is a pretty stupid argument if you ask me.

Davis is top TE in this draft...I only hope he falls to the Bengals...he won't ....but hope springs eternal.
