Evidently, Bush and family have been living in an $800,000 house for over a year now, owned by Michael Michaels, who was trying to persuade Bush into signing with agent David Caravantes, before last season even started.

Damn, last time we had a college football player this deep in scandal, it completely shut down the football program at SMU for a few years.

WOW! That is NOT good news for Bush. Although it is stated that Reggie never lived in the house and he was not aware of his parents' finances, what are the remifications for this?

USC could be forced fo forfeit all of their games fromt the point this infraction occurred, sanctions could be put against the football/athletics program at USC if violations are found.

SMU had to totally shut down their program under the "death penalty" for all the crap that Dickerson got back in the 80's. They have been playing football at the D1 level for a few years again now, but still haven't recovered from the penalties, and probably never will.

Not much of anything can happen to Bush, as he is not in college anymore. It wont affect him at the NFL level other than from a PR standpoint.

I got offered the use of a golf cart once to go check out a girls softball game and a warm 5-pack to come play for a men's league softball team.

Well, the Heisman talk is heating up in regards to this situation. I bet Bush is gonna hate having to give that trophy that he didn't earn up.

From the ghetto to almost a Million Dollar home. Seems a little bit overboard to me.

Just saw Reggie Bush getting asked questions about this on ESPN.

Reggie was basically adopting the tactics of Jeffrey Skilling of ENRON, using evasive language and sticking to the talking points about how he "doesnt want to go into specifics about it" and "people will find that we did nothing wrong". Scott McClellan is stepping down as the White House spokesperson, if Reggie wasn't going into the draft he might be a good candidate to fill in that position the way he is dodging and spinning.

You know what, in the grand scheme of things, i'd rather have him movin' up town on some booster's dime than my Congresswoman's 4k lunch tab being picked up by some fly by night air plane parts manufacturer trying to get a parts contact from the air force. No problem with a fighter falling outta the air on a mission to protect an insertion. And this bitch gets to run for the US Senate. ESPN says the Reggie story has legs and poof, there goes his Heisman...thank god there's balance in the universe.

On a personal note, I dont have a problem with these guys giving the players and their families things either. Only problem is it is against the rules. Fine if you can get away with it I guess, but if you get caught, especially for something this obvious, expect to be paying a price.

Dont be surprised if this is just the beginning. The Dickerson/SMU scandal started out as something rather minor, and the more things got dug up, the worse it got. We may find out that this family receive much more than just a gigantic house to live in.

Look at Eric Dickerson. The guy was wearing fur coats, clothes that cost thousands of dollars, driving a very high priced car to school, and was decked out in more jewelry than Mr. T.

SMU almost got away with it - matter of fact, they woudl have gotten away with it, but the night before the case was to be dropped for lack of evidence, one of the school officials got nervous and spilled the beans to keep himself out of trouble.

Not sure what Reggie's families financial siuation was, but Dickerson was living in a house that had dirt friggin floors before entering college.

The only reason Bush has gotten caught here is because somebody decided to say something. I am sure many knew what was going on, but as long as nobody was blowing a whistle, nobody would have cared.

that was before 24 hr news cycles and a gazillion outlets looking under rocks for even the least little bit a dirt. As far as the rules are concerned, fuck the rules, a lot of these kids are STILL living with the same dirt floors as Dickerson grew up on. Something ain't right about any of this. The fact that the NCAA allows schools to profit off these kids backs and the players can't even go to McDonalds for a burger. And the fact that this Bush thing is happening now of all times. Reggie ought to call his Uncle Georgy for some spin control advise.

Looks like you can think the neighbors. They are the ones who seemed to have pushed this story.

As far as the rules are concerned, I dont agree with them, but they are what they are. I didn't like some of the Marine Corps rules, but I knew what they were and abided by them

Another thing - Bush was set to make Millions, he and the family knew it a year ago. I dont know what they were living in, but one more year wasn't going to kill them. Like or dislike the rules, if this family did what they appear to have done, they need to expect to pay for getting caught.
