The Colts will attempt to enter the world of RBBC in 2006 with the addition of Joseph Addai.

What to you think happens here? Will they stick with it, or is this just a temporary move to see if Addai can take the load, without simply throwing it all on him at once?

I saw this and threw it in the rumor thread.

The Associated Press reports the Colts could feature two running backs during the 2006 season, with RB Dominic Rhodes heading into camp as the No. 1 back and RB Joseph Addai being brought into the offense quickly. Team president Bill Polian said, "He and Dominic will probably share time. At least, that's the way we see it now. You wouldn't expect a rookie to step into a team like this ... a team that has been winning big. You'd expect him to play some but not have to carry the whole load. We've been spoiled here. We see this as a two-man position now."

They make it sound like they will start out 50/50 but I'm not sure if that will hold up.

I believe they plan to split the load early. However, Rhodes has not been the most durable back in the world. So the opportunity to take more carries later in the season is a real possibility in Indy for Addai I think.

Hadnt thought about Rhodes and a durability issue. With the focal point on James for the past few years, I hadn't really paid attention to Rhodes. I fully expect this to become Addai's team rather quickly.

Main reason is while this guy wont set the world on fire with 40 time speed, he is probably the best blocker of the top running backs entering the NFL this year. This guy will pick up anybody, he has no fear. In addition, he runs smart. Patient in the backfield, sees the running lanes, commits to them quickly.
