Eight years into his career and, according to the Peyton Manning personal vocational blueprint, the Indianapolis Colts‘ star quarterback has reached the halfway point of his NFL tenure.
Manning reiterated, as the Colts began a three-day minicamp here Friday, that he wants to play eight more seasons. He initially revealed his desires to the Indianapolis Star.
If he follows that game plan, Manning will play through the 2013 season, when he will be 38. The Colts’ star, who captured the league passing title each of the last two seasons, turned 30 in March. Eight more seasons, and a total of 16 for his career, would be one more year than his father, Archie Manning, logged in his career.

Just because he is playing doesnt necessarily mean he will be starting. A 38 year old QB usually doesnt start unless they have Brett Favre-esque standing. It will be interesting to see what happens down the road, and whether he will ever win a championship.

Had Manning been a Patriot he would have won rings with the defensive talent there. I'm still not sure who is a better individual QB - Brady or Manning.

I believe Peyton to be the better technical QB, but Brady is a lot like Flutie in that he just wins, one way or another.

I believe a lot of the Patriots winning can be credited to stellar defense. That is something Manning has lacked his whole career. Colts D last season was way over-rated from playing scrub teams. Its tricky. Which would you prefer?

Definately give me Tom Brady over Peyton Manning on a real NFL team.
its the opposite for fantasy though.

While I agree with Birdmans sentiments, I dont think it is as cut and dried as that. Peyton has been known to over analyze a game, thus hurting himself in the process.

But I do think if Peyton were on NE, they would still have the same number of titles in the last 4 years.

He's only 176 off of Marino for career TD's. He could throw less than 20 a year and hit that mark, so he's almost a lock for that record if he sticks around that long.

He's 28172 off of the yardage mark, so he'd have to average 3521 to do that. Not as much of a lock, but he did 33K over the first 8, and it's very reachable especially if he manages to hit 4K over the next 3-4.

And hey, even if he doesn't win one, he won't be the best QB to never play in the playoffs. Maybe his kid will take it to the next level.
