Where would you draft him, if he does enter the season as their number 1 receiver?

I fully expect him to be their number 1 WR, and I will be targeting him as my #3 WR in many drafts this year.

i think this is obvious, and all vikings fans expected him to be their #1, and i still wouldnt draft him before the 6th -- and even that is risky. he did very well for us last year and was coming around, and even that was only like 22 catches or something. i like his talent, but this team is going to take some time to meld, especially on offense.

at WR theres travis taylor, koren robinson, marcus robinson, and troy williamson battling for the starting spots. theres also a young guy named billy mcmullen who i believe may look like our best WR by the end of the year. the balls are going to be spread out. i think the teams yardage leaders will be krob, mcmullen, williamson, taylor in that order... and TDs leaders will be mrob, mcmullen, taylor in that order.

im happy with the vikings, and with the moves they are making, but no one knows how well this team gels or plays this year. its not a team im going to be making fantasy picks from this year. id take krob's upside if hes there in the 8th or 9th, but he wont be. i could handle brad johnson as a decent backup if i got him in the 10th or later. i like chester taylor's upside but dont know how he'll fit the system... in the 4th a great pick, end of the 3rd good, but by draft day he'll be a high riser and wont be there. likely the only viking you'll see on my roster this year is a late round flyer on billy mcmullen.

but thats just me.

So what other #1 WR's would you wait for as your #3?

I can only think of a few at this time; Deion Branch, Keenan McCardell, Laveranues Coles, Derrick Mason (unless they get a vet QB), any receiver on the Eagles, lol, same for the Falcons and 49'ers, and Muhsin Muhammed.

Damn a few more that I thought when I started this post, lol.

I don't really think this is news to anyone. With the contract he got, I think most expected him to be the #1 WR. He still has the same upside and risk that he always did really.

Last year he did manage to get 5 starts, and it was pretty mixed:

@ NYG: 1 catch for 44 yards
vs Cleveland: 4 catches for 29 yards
@ Detroit: 4 catches for 148 with a TD (80 yard TD)
vs Pittsburgh: 3 catches for 34 yards
@ Baltimore: 1 catch for 5 yards

I'd have to say he's still in the WR35-40 area.

that doesnt really seem too mixed to me. that seems pretty worthless in the fantasy world. he had one good play in 5 weeks. thats fantasy russian roulette. i think his upside is there to get much better, but it will take some time.

as for what teams #1 WRs would i be not be comfortable with as anything more than my WR3? well for me, that list would include:
Buffalo (Evans)
Cleveland (Edwards?)
Houston (Moulds. sorry, not an AJ fan)
Jacksonville (Wilford?)
Tennessee (Bennett?)
Denver (RSmith? not a walker fan)
KC (Kennison)
SD (McCardell)
SF (Bryant?)
TB (Galloway)
Atlanta (who cares)
Minnesota (McMullan ;-) )
Chicago (Muhammad)
Philly (Reggie Brown)

call me picky, but i wouldnt have my WR1 and WR2 be from any of those teams, and for some of them they wouldnt be my WR3 either.

This is a very interesting development I have been watching. I made a trade for this guy right before the trouble happened and ultimately sent him packing. I went from being happy with my wide receiver situation, facing the fact I had made the worst trade in the history of fantasy football.

I'd temper your enthusiasm about McMullen. He was dropped from Philly because he couldn't break into the top 3 or even 4 with TO. Krob should be the legit #1 but with Brad Johnson still behind center, I won't take him until it's ridiculously late in the draft.

Depending on the availability, I would start considering Robinson in the 7th or 8th round, definately wouldn't let him slip past the 9th round. Too much ability there, and I dont mind taking the risk on a team's number 1 receiver, even if it is the Vikings.

Regular drafts, or mock drafts?
