Its the day the NFL veterans get kicked to the curb in the name of the salary cap.

Steve McNair has probably been the most talked about of these potential cuts, but there are plenty more that look to be jobless.

What names to you expect to be out there that you would like your team to land?

Actually they are saying now that June 1st doesnt mean what it used to, and that they dont see a ton of cuts on that day like they used to. Also something I saw somewhere about teams being able to drop 1 player before June 1st, but still be able to use the credit as if it were June 1st cut.

Patten in Washington, McNair in Tenn??????, a few others...but it won't be alot I don't think. Alot of teams did this when they thought cap wasn't going to get extended.

Those are the two that seem very likely. Greg Ellis may be gone as well in Dallas, Parcells hadn't said anything though, although he never does.

While this cut day is no longer as relevant as it once was presumed to be there are a couple of names to look for.

Houston LB-Kailee Wong
Oakland DE-Bobby Hamilton
St. Louis LB-Dexter Coakly
San Diego LB-Donnie Edwards
None of these guys are gonna make anyone run out and buy S.B. tickets but should end up on someones roster by the time camp starts.

Hey Dave, where did you hear that about Coakley? Havent heard that one yet. That one would be good for me as I have been hawking Brandon Chillar as the WLB starter all offseason, but Coakley was the one standing in his way.

Will Peterson of the Giants is an example of this exemption.

Thats probably where I saw it, lol. Had such high hopes for him out of college too. Between him and Will Allen, their CB's were supposed to be set for years. Oh well, never ends the way you envision it.

Just some shuttlebutt based on the Rams thinking Chillar is a better fit. Coakly is due to make 1.5 mil, which doesn't seem high but he missed two or three games last year and since the big signing bonus hasn't really performed up to it.

coakley has been mentioned quite a bit about being a possible cut. Wouldn't mind seeing him in Dallas again.

I have been high on Chillar for awhile, so it will be good to see that happen.

Thanks for the info.

And sure Mike, act like you heard it too, yeah right, lol.

Gotta dive back a few posts and defend my buddy Donnie Edwards from SuperDave. Donnie is a machine at the LB position. I could think of several teams that should be begging for this guys help.
