| Deputy Premium Member Moderator | I know I asked this somewhat in #5, but want a more significant answer here. Which team(s) in this division makes the playoffs and how far does that team go? Any Superbowl contenders?

| Outlaw | 2 super bowl contenders...cincy and pitts. Baltimore will be everyone's dark horse if they land McNair, but I'm telling you now they will not pull it together. Call it a guaran-sneeze. Bless me. It is possible that both wild cards go to this division, but I'm not seeing it. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati will be in the playoffs and make a run until they have a showdown in January again. The winner will be playing in the conference finals and likely going on to Miami. |

| Who Me? Admin | Well in sticking with my prediction in #5, 2 teams go: Pittsburgh wins this division by a game, and Cincinnati will take on of the wild cards. They will seal the playoff birth with a New Year's Eve win at home vs Pittsburgh. They will use this momentum to make some noise this time around in the playoffs. If the Bengals can overcome the Palmer injury, and their #1 schedule and still make the playoffs, watchout, this team will be battle tested and ready! I see an AFC championship game in store for the Bengals this season and maybe more. Pittsburgh will always be a competitor, but I don't see a repeat. In fact a wild card loss would not suprise me this time around.

| Erudite | The Steelers. All day every day. They are the class of the Division. Battle tested? There is no one more battle tested than the Steelers. The road to the Superbowl was paved, literally, on the road. Never, in the history of the league, has a team accomplished what the Steelers did to become World Champions. Balance? They snot knock you on both sides of the ball. Always have and this year will be no different. Cohesiveness and consistency and chemistry? The Steelers don't panic. The bond formed of having your back to the wall for the last eight games of the year should not be discounted. There are no superstars on this team. Just pros. Solid performers that have put aside ego for effort. There are some high level performers, but not a one that, if you were starting a franchise, you would take to lead your team. That's the Steeler way, the Cowher way. Year after year after year. A five year run of .700 football culminating in a Superbowl victory. They came back from a sloppy, injury filled 2003 to go 15-1 in 2004, with a rookie QB. They got a thousand yards rushing from a guy that didn't start a game in college and kept defensive coordinators up late with a college QB that played wide-out and returned punts, in '05. The Steelers are so good at plugging holes that the Army Corp of engineers shoulda called them to save New Orleans. Having lost only four starters from last years World Championship team, the Steelers signed only one significant free agent, DB Ryan Clark. They have a proven system, a proven formula and the trophy to prove it. Defending a championship is never easy. The Steelers will face a tough schedule wearing the bulls eye Superbowl champions must wear. Their style, system and attitude is a Superman's cape of invincability. They will repeat as Superbowl Champions and retake their rightful place a top the AFC North. I don't see any obstacle that stands in their way. The Bengals are big question mark at QB and on defense. They need Wright to hold the fort until Palmer returns after the bye week, which seems to be the consesus on his return. They tried to plug the middle of the D line with aging Sam Adams. I don't think he is the answer to the Bengals problem of giving up the big play. And until they prove that they can, Adams' presense in the middle is a non factor. Bresnahan has yet to put a defense in that can shut teams down when they need to without Palmer to play keep up. Until they prove they can play defense, the Wildcard is the best they can hope for this year. As an arrogant Steeler fan, I really haven't given the other two also rans much consideration. Both teams have to many question marks on offense to warrant a threat to the Steelers taking the division and repeating as Superbowl champions. |
