Updating previous reports, Shelly Anderson, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers WR Santonio Holmes was arrested for first-degree misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault, along with an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation. The complaint, according to Columbus police officers, was made by Lashae Boone, mother of Holmes' youngest child. Boone told the police she was choked, thrown to the ground, grabbed by the arms and thrown into a door by Holmes. No hospital visit was needed to treat Boone's alleged injuries. Holmes was released on $3,500 recognizance bond and now awaits a trail date.

For which one, you need to be specific, he has 1 count of disorderly conduct pending in Fla, 1 count of domestic violence and 2 counts of assult pending in Ohio.......your saying all of them are just going to be dropped?

Now I'm not claiming these Ohio chanrges will stick, but I am interested to know why you feel so strongly that they won't? Personally I see him pleaing to a lesser charge.

Honestly, I could tell you I believe in the justice system. But...the fact is the Ohio charges won't go anywhere since he is a famous OSU alum. Most cases like this where the significant other gets pressure from those around not to file charges, or cooperate...the charges get dropped all together. As for the Fla charges...I haven't seen much on that to really tell. Then again....Maurice Drew just walked..granted he might not have been involved.....but then again...seems like alot of these don't amount to much. Seems only Henry is stupid enough to really get caught.

In domestic abuse cases, it doesn't matter if she wants to press charges or not. If the officers found her to be with injuries, they can press charges and are sworn to do so in some jurisdictions. Domestic abuse laws have changed over the years to insure the safety of those abused and to get the abuser into the system. Not so much to punish them but to head off future problems through counseling.

This is true, however, in cases where the spouse or other person refuses to give testimony or appear, charges are then dropped and no conviction takes place. Happens alot in Ohio.

Gee..I am a friggen prophet:

from Fanball:
The News

The charges of disorderly conduct against Steelers rookie wideout Santonio Holmes were dropped on Thursday, according to ESPN. Holmes, the team's first-round pick, was among hundreds of people arrested as part of a police crackdown on Miami Beach during Memorial Day weekend. Prosecutors dismissed the charge against the Steelers' first-round draft pick, but he was ordered to donate $250 to the police officers assistance trust fund.

Ok, wait a minute! Phicinfan, bring any news you find in at anytime and put it anywhere on the board. Don't feel obligated to check the Rumor Mill first. We might already have it in the Mill but that is not important. Bringing info in an adding to a ongoing thread means more posters will have access to this info. It promotes ongoing discussions and insights about players and teams between posters, which is much more valuable than just the info itself. The more places a particular piece of info appears the better, the Mill, the NFL News Blog, in any thread, in many different threads and even the Chat Box.
If you find it, bring it and share it with us! That is the key! News, insight, opinions, theories, projections, intuition and gut feelings are all needed around here. The more people that contribute all these things the better this site becomes.

Phicinfan, I appreciate all the insights and info you bring to the plate here.

When isn't coachnorm right

I wouldn't be surprised to see Holmes end up just like Henry. Play a solid rookie season, come back the next season and do pretty well..then get in too much trouble to stay on the team. What's with malcontent WR these days?

And why'd you have to draft him for me in that rookie mock draft Mike
