A friend of mine is excited about the game and has preordered it. I haven't looked at it much, but I'm sure I'll take a look at it when he gets it.

If he pre-ordered, it should ship out today. Can't wait to hear some reviews on the game once some people have it.

OKay, I am not much of a game geek...but this simply looks too cool. Be your own head coach, work with coordinators, set plays....this just looks too fun to pass up on...

ive always wished they had some sort of mode where you could make an expansion team. not just a new team, but the ability to do an expansion draft of some current players from each team and build the team with high draft picks over a few years.

That would be great.

They could release game updates each year with the new players, rather than an entire new game, that or give you the ability to transfer your team to the new game so you didnt end up starting over.

yeah but they'd never do that, because then you wouldnt have to pay the full prize for their new fancy schmancy game, where you pay 40 bucks for the new game to have updated rosters and like 1 or 2 new "fun" options or graphics.

i only buy a new madden once every 4 or 5 years. i think the most fun of anything i do on that game is in the offseason when go through and update every team's roster and depth chart, add in the rookies, etc etc. i have WAY more fun and spend WAY more time on that than on actually playing the game.

I'm not sure I understand the concept.
As the head coach you call the plays...but don't actually play?
It sounds like Madden......without half the fun.

You're the coach and GM. It's EA's answer to all the football sims that are out there.

Its certainly not "competition" for Madden as its distributed by the same Electronic Arts that profits from Tiburons Madden titles. Not only that but you will be able to save your data from NFL Head Coach and port it over to Madden 2007 when it launches in August.

I am cautiously optimistic about NFL Head Coach. Sure it looks like it could be fun, but if the production value in Madden is any indication there has been a serious lack of attention to detail lately in franchise mode. If it gets decent reviews I will have to rent or buy it.

The transferring of data is very interesting. So now we will have people buying two games this year instead of one.

O.K.....how about this.
They make it for "XBox Live" so that you can link up with 31 other owners and have a "fantasy football" season that rides on your own play calling / drafting / trading.
That would make more sense to me. (I'm a "Halo 2 Live" junkie)

Ok so some of the reviews are in and the consensus seems to be that NFL Head Coach is a modest first attempt at this genre of football strategy and that its more "OK" than Good.

So I'm probably going to rent it rather than buy, just to see how it is. Doesnt look like its going to cut too far into my Madden 06 Online gaming.
