Question

Assuming a 12 team league......

Usually, the top 2-3 spots will yield you huge impact players. However, you are then stuck watching many top talents get taken off the board before you pick again. This puts a lot of strain on the need for your first pick to perform as expected. A subpar performance can be detrimental to your season.

The way I see it, you got advantages and disadvantages with all the areas, with the biggest disadvantage in the last pick being you most likely are getting a guy that is rated between 10th and 14th in ADP depending on the draft strategies of those 3-4 picks ahead of you.

That said, where do you like to draft, and why?

The middle three positions. The reason, as you stated, is that the wait is too long between picks if you have an extremely high first round pick.

It varies a little for me each year depending on my thoughts on talent, but generally I like to draft in the 6-9 area. Sometimes higher if there is a player I really want, or sometimes down at the bottom if there are a couple players I really want with the first two picks and I feel I can have them at the turn.

I like picking at the turn, as it gives me a chance to pair players that I really like. You do take a hit on the long wait, but getting back to back is something that I have made work for me.

I agree with Taz...if I can't get one of the top 3, I would prefer to get the last and use the turn. Yes, top rbs are usually gone, but you then have the flexibility to take two top wrs...or a top Qb and wr or Rb or whatever combo you feel best about.

well I have done 3 mocks so far, one from the top, one from the middle, and one from the end. Got to say, the top was my favorite, but I like what I have going from the 12 hole as well. You can get a very balanced team from there.
