Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow believes QB Vince Young has made monumental strides over the team's May and June minicamps. Chow said, "He is every bit the athlete you thought he was, but he has some good quarterback skills as well. The thing about Vince is he's not an athlete playing quarterback. He is a quarterback who is a good athlete. There is a big difference."

Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean, reports Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow cleared the air with QB Vince Young after the draft. Chow wanted the team to draft QB Matt Leinart, who he was more familiar with and was picked by the Arizona Cardinals. Chow said, "We both understood the situation. We talked about it. I wasn't sitting around here pining away for Matt, but if we had to choose he was the one because I knew him better. Vince understood that. It wasn't a big deal for either of us and we got started."

Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars LB Pat Thomas is currently the leader to win the open spot at outside linebacker. "I think Pat Thomas is probably ahead right now, but it's too early to call," Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said. "We don't have to make that call [now], but he's returning in our system and he's extremely quick. He's a striker. I would say going into the clubhouse at the turn, he's got an early lead, but there's still a lot of football left." He will compete with Jacksonville Jaguars LB Nick Greisen and LB Clint Ingram in training camp.

Rick Herrin, of the Star-Telegram, reports expectations are high for Dallas Cowboys rookie TE Anthony Fasano in 2006. He is expected to start immediately as the Cowboys shift to a two-tight end formation full time when training camp begins July 29 in Oxnard, Calif. He brings good hands and a good knowledge of the scheme after playing under head coach Charlie Weis, a former assistant of Cowboys' head coach Bill Parcells' with the New England Patriots and New York Jets. Fasano, who finished second all-time among Irish tight ends in catches, was one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award, given to the country's top tight end. Fasano has drawn predictable comparisons to ex-Giant and Notre Dame product TE Mark Bavaro, who was one of Parcells' workhorses during the Giants' glory days. Fasano's upside includes good hands, feet and knowledge of the system. Blocking might be his biggest need for improvement.

Yo Mike, Yo Taz, compairisions to a Giant

Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports former NFL executive Ken Herock claims he thought Pittsburgh Steelers WR Santonio Holmes was a problem "ready to explode." Herock is a former pro personnel director with the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers. He has a service called "Pro Prep" in which he counsels and prepares college players on how to conduct themselves in interviews for the NFL Draft. Herock worked with Holmes in January and said, "I had an impression of the kid, where he was from, such a tough area, but soon as he told me he had three kids I knew it was going to be a problem. He was dirt poor, all of a sudden he's got a little money, you get a little rambunctious. But I would have never thought it would happen now. I thought he might explode in year two or three. Add it up -- no money, poor family background, three kids already -- something's going to happen."

Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos RB Mike Bell feels that not being drafted was a blessing in disguise for him. Bell was signed by the Broncos after not being selected in the NFL Draft. Bell said, "I'm in the perfect scheme and I'm under the perfect coaching staff and with the perfect players. I couldn't be happier. I feel like I have just as much opportunity as I would have if I'd gotten drafted."

Be afraid?

Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports agent Greg Williams said Virginia LB Ahmad Brooks is now on his way to San Francisco for a two-day meeting with the San Francisco 49ers.

Ahmad Brooks is one of several players available in the upcoming supplemental Draft. Brooks by far has attracted the most interest so far as many teams showed up at his workout or have had him stop by.

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the team has agreed to terms with rookie WR Kyle Brown (Chiefs) on a two-year contract. Terms of the deal were not made available.

I wonder if this guy can catch the ball? No Wait! What am I thinking? This is the year that Dante Hall is really going to be involved in the offense.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports New England Patriots DL Johnathan Sullivan was arrested Sunday morning, June 25, and charged with possession of marijuana, a seat belt violation, running two stop signs and playing loud music in Griffin, Ga., according to police reports. The police report said officer, M.G. Bowman first asked Sullivan if there were any weapons in the car, and after Sullivan said yes, Bowman retrieved a handgun. Bowman then asked Sullivan and passenger Tamarco Clemons if there was anything illegal in the car, and Sullivan and Clemons said no. Sullivan granted Bowman permission to search the car, where Bowman retrieved the bag that was found to contain less than an ounce of marijuana, which Sullivan and Clemons claimed was not their property. They were later released on signature bonds.

Now a Patriot. Evidently this Tamarco Clemons missed the memo which states that the posse guy is supposed to take the rap for the drugs.

The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney has said the team would like to get a new deal done with head coach Bill Cowher before the 2006 season. Cowher currently has two seasons left on his contract and has not signed an extension despite offseason talks between the Steelers and his agent. The team has never allowed Cowher to enter a season with fewer than two years left on his contract.

Jim Trotter, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports Brian Watkins, who represents two investors of New Era Sports and Entertainment, intends to proceed with his lawsuit against New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush and his parents. Watkins claims Bush and his parents defrauded his clients of $300,000 in cash, start-up costs and back rent. Watkins contends that they backed out of an oral agreement in which Bush would have been the primary client of New Era Sports and Entertainment, the fledgling marketing agency whose investors included Michael Michaels and Lloyd Lake. Watkins said he hopes to file the paperwork for a lawsuit by the end of July. Bush's attorney, David Cornwell, told NFL Security in April that Bush was the target of an extortion attempt. Cornwell later said the FBI had opened an investigation into an alleged extortion attempt, but Watkins has said neither he nor his clients have been contacted by the FBI or NFL Security.
