Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports the New Orleans Saints are currently second in salary cap space at $13.7 million under the cap. Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports the Philadelphia Eagles are currently third in salary cap space. The team has slightly more than $13 million of space left under the cap. Vito Stellino, of the Florida Times-Union, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently fourth in salary cap space. The team has slightly more than $13 million of space left under the cap. When considering where a FA like Ty Law will be going this has to be a consideration. Wanting Ty Law is one thing, affording him is another thing and having the cap space is yet another. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports free agent QB Kerry Collins (Raiders) has decided he still wants to play in the NFL. Those who know Collins said he is interested in signing with another team this coming season, and the most likely candidate is the Tennessee Titans, who need another veteran quarterback to complement QB Billy Volek. Talks between the Titans and Collins are expected to heat up just before training camp. There's still a chance Collins could balk at the Titans offer if it's not enough, but the way it sounded this week was that he will be on a roster when training camp opens. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Casey Husband, of Redskins.com, reports Washington Redskins LB Warrick Holdman is looking to prove himself after having a poor 2005 season, recording only 38 tackles and a fumble recovery. However, despite the disappointing numbers, the team's coaching staff appears to have given him another shot and he is going into training camp as the favorite to start at weak-side linebacker. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Stephen F. Holder, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports with the addition of QB Jay Fiedler, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may decide to release QB Tim Rattay before the season and save $1.25 million against the salary cap. Even without Rattay, the team would still have a No. 3 option at quarterback with rookie QB Bruce Gradkowski, who has made a good impression on the coaching staff so far. The sound of the other shoe dropping? |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Mike McClain, of the Tribune Chronicle, reports Indianapolis Colts LB Deryck Toles (hernia) hoped to make a strong run at the Colts' 53-man roster when training camp opens next month, but his plans were put on hold when he suffered a sports hernia. He had surgery in May, but the healing process hasn't gone well. He's expected to have more surgery in about two weeks, which means he'll likely open camp on the physically-unable-to-perform list. Despite the injury setback, Toles believes that he can have a lengthy pro career. Toles also thinks that the Colts will again be a dominant force again in 2006. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Wesley Lyle, of the Montgomery Advertiser, reports after spending eight seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, FB Fred Beasley feels good about his move to the Miami Dolphins. "I feel good about Miami," said Beasley, who signed with the Dolphins in March. "I think the team is going in a good direction. They won their final six games last year. I don't think we'll back up. I think we'll pick up where they left off." Beasley was benched by the 49ers last season after he started seven of the first nine games. Various news reports cited a conflict between Beasley and the San Francisco coaching staff. Beasley did not discuss the situation when he was in town but said "it was time for a change." Beasley said he and RB Ronnie Brown have "hit it off." "I didn't realize Ronnie was such a fan of mine," Beasley said. "When I met him, he started talking to me about all these things I had accomplished at Auburn and in the NFL. I'm looking forward to playing beside him." fluff |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Rams guard Richie Incognito missed the entire 2005 season because of a knee injury, but the team's website reports the second-year lineman looked good in offseason minicamps.Incognito's main competition for the starting job opposite Adam Timmerman is Claude Terrell, who started seven games last season. Terrell can play either guard spot, so if Incognito wins the job, Claude will be a valuable backup on a line that we expect to open plenty of holes for Steven Jackson. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Lelie hasn't been moved due to a high asking price. Ok Maybe I should give the whole Rumor as this is the Rumor Mill but the whole thing is very speculative from top to bottom. Ashley Lelie is entering the last season of his contract and he wants out of Denver badly. Mike Shanahan has already replaced him with Javon Walker, but the Broncos seem unwilling to trade the disgruntled wideout unless they can get a first round pick or a top running back in return. This first part is very speculative as it is unlikely the Broncos get a first round pick or a top back, which makes this part even more speculative. Lelie will be moved before camp, but Shanahan may have to lower his asking price get a deal done. Lelie wants to be a number one receiver, but his lack of consistency and his contract situation make him a less than desirable commodity at this point. If Denver is able to acquire another running back, Tatum Bell could become the next Bronco on the block. Tatun Bell to be traded? veeery speculative. although this adds more speculation/hype to Ron Dayne. Last edited by Coachnorm; 07-01-2006 at 12:42 PM. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Chiefs running back Priest Holmes refutes speculation that he is on the verge of retiring due to a frightening neck/spine injury last season. "Why wouldn't I [want to play]?" he told the Washington Times. "I feel great. Medically, what I've been told is that I need to wait and not make a quick decision based on the feeling [that] I can get out there. I believe at the end of the day, it's my final decision. Will I take what [the doctors] say to heart and really think about it? I will once the time comes." Holmes has still not been cleared for contact. Ok, another Priest Holmes blurb with no concrete info. I figured I would bring it here as this is the first public acknowledgement by Priest himself that he feels great. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Jason Jones, of the Sacramento Bee, reports the Oakland Raiders have not decided on a position yet for rookie CB/S Michael Huff. NFL.com has Huff's position listed as "none," while Raiders.com lists him at cornerback. Neither description is necessarily wrong. Huff is going to be asked to play all over the secondary, which suits him fine. "I love doing it all," said Huff, who was the seventh overall pick from Texas. "If it's just being deep at free safety, lining up and covering the slot or blitzing, I love doing it all." Huff has spent the offseason learning multiple spots in the Raiders' secondary and said he understands his skills are important to the defense's progress. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | The Sports Xchange reports the Chicago Bears would like more productivity from their passing game from the tight end position during the 2006 season. TE Desmond Clark has performed well enough in the offseason to warrant a more substantial role with the offense. Head coach Lovie Smith said, "He's played well. He's had a few outstanding days out here and yes, he definitely has earned that right to get more plays, more balls thrown his way." He has only had 24 catches in each of the last 2 years with the Bears, so there is room for alot more attention. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears LB Lance Briggs turned down a deal worth about $5.5 million per season, which would have made him one of the highest-paid players on the roster. The Bears wound up rescinding the offer and Briggs in turn boycotted the team's voluntary offseason program. Briggs is expected to report to training camp and will likely play out the season without contract talks reopening. |
