Chad Johnson's performance over the last 2 weeks not only put him into the NFL lead for receiving yards this year, but it also set a NFL record for the most receiving yards in back to back game at 450 yards!!

After a slow start in which left many questions what was going on with Chad and Carson, the combo has been on fire the last 2 weeks and both are climbing up the statistical leaderboards as they try to lead the Bengals back into the playoff hunt in the AFC. The Bengals are currently 5-5, one game back of the final playoff spot.

In all fairness, I think the questions still remain. We all expected the Bengals to put on an offensive show against the Saints and they delivered. Not sure about anybody else, but I didn'g give the overrated Saints an ounce of hope in this game.

Great accomplishment for Chad Johnson, glad to see actually being covered by less than 3 people now. This means that not only can he do what he does best, it also tells you that defenses are worrying more about the other weapons on the field.

Just looked at the final stretch for the Bengals.
  • @ Cleveland - definitely not a gimme here
  • Baltimore - very short week leading to this game. 3 days off, then play again.
  • Oakland - This team isn't winning, but it takes everything you have to beat them.
  • @ Indianapolis - ouch
  • @ Denver - another ouch
  • Pittssburgh - at least you are at home for this one.
The Bengals defense is going to have to be healthy down the stretch for those final three games.

While many questions remain about the bengals as a whole, I don't see how you can question the two of them. Chad leads the league in receiving yards. Is tied for 2nd in TD reception, and tied for 8th in receptions. Not too bad for a guy who was being thrown under the bus just a few short weeks ago.

And as far as Carson, for as much heat as he has taken this year, he is 6th in passing yards, tied for 3rd in passing TD's, and 4th in passer rating.

And that is with a brutal schedule. IMO, the biggest difference is despite the OL's injury issues, they have been playing much better. You can slam the Saints, but they were #7 against the pass coming in, and the week before was against one of the top pass defenses in San Diego. Not exactly cup cakes.

Now as far as the Bengals overall, MANY questions remain. But I think the offense is back on track, too bad they have to be GREAT every week with the defense we have.

I'm not questioning the two of them, just thought this was a good opportunity to look at the remainder of the season for the Bengals as a whole.

As far as the Saints, I feel I can easily slam them at this point. Said early last week that this was a game the Bengals would win, and just about everybody was predicting both teams to rack up huge passing yards, which happened. How they are ranked really doesn matter when you look at the fact they have now lost 3 of their last 4 games, lost their first place positioning in the South. Too add, this was simply a mismatch between the Bengals passing game and the Saints defensive secondary.

a few weeks ago, I felt there were some problems with Palmer. I think he has pretty much proven he is ok and most of the problems have in fact lied withing the offenive line of the Bengals. Never really doubted Chad Johnson at all, as opponents had been keying on covering him very heavily. With all the receivers healthy and playing, you simply cannot do that anymore and 85 will shine.

Yeah, it's still an up hill battle for the Bengals overall. They can only afford about 1 more loss, and as you just pointed out, the schedule looks pretty difficult still.....
