I mentioned last year here, either after the Colts lost to the Steelers, or during the offseason, that Peyton Manning struggles against 3-4 defense.

Pittsburgh and San Diego both harrassed Peyton Manning for 4 quarters last year, with Manning ultimately blaming the offensive line after losing to the Steelers.

Yesterday, Dallas was in Manning's face for four quarters. Sacked him twice, causing him to fumble once, knocked him down several times, made him constantly hurry his passes, and he throws two interceptions.
If you watched this game, he simply looked rattled early in this game, both on the field, and on the sidelines. The Colts ultimately turned the ball over 4 times, more than they have turned the ball over in a few years.

Now, I am not saying that every team with a 3-4 defense can beat them, but I think the blue print is in place. If I were the Houston Texans, and had any intention of winning this division in the next 3-4 years, I would seriously consider changing defensive schemes.

Manning always has struggled against that scheme! Gives him absolute fits!

You mentioned it in the off-season, Mike. If the Fins D keeps playing the way it has, Peyton's in trouble come Week 17.

I doubt you will see Peyton Manning on the field come week 17.

may not be on the field even for week 16.

Well if SD keeps winning you will. Indy will play for the HF advanatage, especially in week 16.

Yes, that will of course be the deciding factor. It all depends on if Indy wins out through week 15. If they do, and the Chargers have 3 losses or less, they will be forced to keep playing the starters.

The Texans running a 3-4 in the past gave Manning problems at times. They had a number of multi-sack games against them, and kept some games close when they had no business doing that. Though the Texans didn't have the personnel to beat them. (Nor was Fangio's 3-4 good for the modern NFL).

last year, nobody would buy into this. Now every football show going is harping on it at this point.

I want royalties.

This is what I am talking about. Right now the RAVENS and not the Chargers are the #2 Seed. So I would say if Baltimore keeps winning.....

Ravens are clearly the 2nd best team in the AFC right now. Chargers (getting Castillo and Merriman back) are the best though.

Gonna be a quick exit for the Colts once again, especially if they meet up with the Chargers.

Texans never should have went away from the 3-4. You can do so much with it.
