| Outlaw | UDFAs You're Excited About, 08 Edition So, ever year I do this thread and I'm always interested in what people think of the UDFAs their teams have signed. I'm especially interested in those you think actually have a shot to make the team and contribute. For me it's WR Devone Bess from Hawaii. He's a far shiftier and slightly quicker version of Wes Welker with Oronde Gadsden-like hands. I have no doubt that not only will he make the team, but he'll see significant playing time in the slot. I honestly don't think Hagan can beat him out, never mind Wilford. |

| TO THE DEATH | The Jets aren't my team, but they did sign Danny Woodhead RB Chadron State. He's the alltime NCAA rushing leader at any level. He had the fastest 40 at the combine and one of the fastest Ive ever seen. He's only 5'7" which made teams shy away. I get the feeling he's going to be one hell of a kick returner and the pro level with his short stride, ability to make quick cuts, and his speed. |

| Outlaw | Miami picked up an equal freak in Jayson Foster. The following video says it all for me, really. I don't know if he'll make the team as anything other than a returner, but God is that highlight reel something. He makes Vick look like a punk. |

| Better late than never | I would like to see what Tony Temple can do if given a chance. Anyone know if someone picked him up? Nevermind. The Browns snagged him. Last edited by FireMillen; 04-28-2008 at 10:30 PM. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Forum Leader | FREE AGENT CALL: The Bengals have yet to announce their list of college free agents, but the most intriguing signing looks to be Alabama cornerback Simeon Castille after he logged 12 interceptions as a two-year starter. An Alabama newspaper reported the signing of the 6-0, 195-pound Castille after the Bengals apparently mulled taking him as early as the fourth round and maybe he'll end up as a guy that can play both corner and safety. Ourlads Scouting Services, which projected him going to Buffalo as a free safety with the eighth pick in the fifth round, gave him a grade of 6.75 (out of 10), fifth-highest of the free safeties. He probably went undrafted after he was timed at 4.71 seconds in the 40-yard dash and there could be a position switch involved, but he does get favorable reviews for his versatility. With the Bengals dogged by bad tackling the past couple of seasons, Castille also gets good reviews for being a good run defender. "A strong run support player," Ourlads says. "Has fluid hips and good athletic ability to cover a slot receiver. Can stick his foot in the ground and drive on the ball ... a good athlete that makes plays. Top end speed is only real down side." |

| Genibus Nitito Canus Premium Member Forum Leader | Georgia Tech LB Gary Guyton, who ran the fastest 40-yard dash time among linebackers (4.47) at the NFL combine, has signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent. Guyton (6-foot-1 1/2, 245 pounds) projects to inside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 alignment. He is also considered a hard hitter on special teams. Of all the undrafted free agents targeted by the Patriots, Guyton is arguably the highest priority signing. Here are some of his numbers from the NFL combine, which helped his stock rise: 40-yard dash -- 4.47 (1st among LBs) Vertical jump -- 36.5 (1st among LBs) Broad jump -- 10"6'' (tied-1st among LBs) 3-cone drill -- 7.07, (tied-8th) 60-yard shuttle -- 11.57 (5th) According to the Pro Football Weekly draft guide, Guyton only had 15 reps on the bench press, so strength could be an issue. Other than the pissy bench, which could easily be worked on by an NFL strength coach, Im not sure why this guy didnt get drafted, but appears to be yet ANOTHER steal by the Pats. Lord Vader will teach him well. |
