Looking ahead to next year

12Team Dynasty-Keeper League
1st yr Keep 18 of 21
(Rosters to be expanded to 24 for 2nd season)

Looks like the dream is over for this year. Alot of disappointments. Fell to 4 & 8 on the season.

Looking ahead i want to shake up my roster. One owner(who is in a 5way tie for 5th place - but 9th place because of pts - may want something to put him over the top) who has QB probs had offered me JRussell for my THoush.

I declined but now Im thinking with my concerns for Bulgar and where the Rams r headed I may be able to make that deal bigger.

Would this be a smart offer?

I send Bulgar/Housh
for JRussell or BQuinn & WWalker

or try

I send Bulgar/Housh/CTaylor or MMorris
for JRussell or BQuinn/WWalker/KJones

I have a concerns about 2nd deal as Taylor and maybe Morris could end up as #1 RBs somewhere next yr.

Need some suggestions.

My Team:
QB Marc Bulger
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh
WR Greg Jennings
RB Clinton Portis

BN Ronnie Brown IR
BN Carnell Williams IR
BN Ted Ginn Jr.
BN Ricky Williams

K Nate Kaeding

1). History repeats...Akili Smith held out on the Bengals and look at him now? Some players coming out of college think they're all that because they are drafted high but it doesn't mean squat...I definitely would not give up Housh for him....
2). Every year, there is a QB who starts, but doesn't do very well since its they're rookie year, but seems to blossom in year two (i.e. Derek Anderson). I'd look to keep Housh, but find a way to pick up John Beck, Brodie Croyle or Trent Edwards. I'm not saying you're going to pick the right one, but you'll give up a lot less if you're wrong versus Housh for Russell. Now I would consider trading Housh for an RB, perhaps Marhawn Lynch, someone with some upside...Housh is having a great year...sell high, buy low...I think Lynch may be worth a look. Also, you can get Welker, but how long is his contract in New England? They have a history of bringing players for only a year or two while they play good only to let them go (i.e. Cory Dillon, David Patten, Deion Branch and so on). I'd ask for nothing less than a top ten RB for Housh. Now I think Housh is currently worth more than a RB like Lynch in the present, but Lynch will help you out more a year or two down the road. This helps you shore up a couple of issues at once. Does this help?

Excellent. Thanks.

WEll the settings for WR & RBs r very close in this league & I think Im solid at RB for next year.

Do u think I should send Bulgar to him for something like a Quinn or Russell?

I still think you can use a younger RB, especially since Ricky Williams is out and probably washed up, Ronnie Brown (who know's how he will be after his injury), Chester Taylor (Can the Vikes trade him?), Shaun Alexander (Is he in a slump or is this long term?) and Clinton Portis fumbles to much for me...Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde). I just think you could use some younger talent at RB. In the mean time, I'm not sold on Jamarcus Russell, I'd try Croyle or Beck. Drop someone like Ricky Williams for Beck...Miami has a good 0-line and that's what I look for when a new QB is playing. I'm just saying that you can get a better QB than Russell an give up far less. I do like your WR's and DB's. Revis looked good against T.O. the other day and Leon Hall gets better every game.

Tough Choice

I like all 3, but the odds of all three being the best good is slim and none. I'd go Croyle, Beck and Edwards in that order right now. I like that Croyle is building rapport with Dwayne Bowe, but Beck has a good O-line. I'd just sit back and watch right now. I'd look to see which team is doing something to improve itself (i.e. signing a good o-line man, marque defensive player or a proven coach) ,over the off-season. Housh might be worth trading since he has a lot of value. Here are a few players to keep an eye on long-term:

QB's
Beck, Croyle, Edwards

RB's
Lynch, Patrick Cobbs, Dee Dee Dorsey, Kenny Irons, Marion Barber III

WR's
Sidney Rice, Ted Ginn Jr., Dwayne Bowe, Roddy White, Roscoe Parrish

TE
Vernon Davis

Kickers - Mike Nugent

True...

But Dee Dee Dorsey may be worth a look next year, especially with Chris Perry and Kenny Irons having question marks.
