Well done. If you can win it all inside the next two years it will be worth it.

abolustely a good deal, no doubt about it. putting all your eggs into one basket, but hes been the best basket from the last 3-5 years, so why not?

all you really gave up is carson palmer's future. nothing else in that deal is too significant. 1.07 is a lottery ticket, but you got that back in alex smith.

Lets just say that it "strongly increases my chances of winning it all" the next 2 years.

Well I can't take all the credit... the offer was made to me out of the blue.
I had no intention of trading for LT. The other owner had Bret Farve as his starting QB going into next season and needed to fill the hole that Bret's retirement made.
For his sake I hope Selvin Young is worth starting next season.

Where doest this leave you at quarterback? If you have another solid starter there, I really like this deal.

That was my only issue... the deal left me with only Tavares Jackson, Drew Stanton and of course Alex Smith back in the trade. I'm not sure why the other owner didn't look to acquire Tom Brady or Tony Romo since an owner in this league has both. I'm sure he could have landed one of those 2 for LT. Maybe he is a fan of Palmer? Selvin Young?

I gambled that I could address that QB situation before the season started and was able to help myself the very same day:
(Steelers are the Peyton Manning owner so Kitna was bench fodder for him)

* New England Patriots gave up
Smith, Alex SFO QB;
Toomer, Amani NYG WR

* Pittsburgh Steelers gave up
Kitna, Jon DET QB;
Year 2008 Round 4 Draft Pick from Pittsburgh Steelers (4.01)

I feel alot better starting Kitna over Travares Jackson or Alex Smith... and I have Drew Stanton QB DET If Kitna should lose the starting job due to injury or coach's decision.

In the end, at the cost of the 1.07, my starters go from:
QB - Palmer ..... to Kitna
RB - J.Addai ...... J.Addai
RB - J.Lewis ...... J.Lewis
RB - Selvin Young .... LT
WR's / TE / IDP were not affected (as Toomer was a backup).

Don't like it nearly as much now, LOL.

Really don't like the thought of going into a season with Kitna as my starting quarterback, especially this year when there is a chance he might not even have the starting job all season.
Don't like Alex Smith
Don't like Tavaris Jackson

You really improved at running back, but you may have put yourself in a messy position at quarterback, especially after this season.

Also, I think your window is this year only. Next year, you will be going into the season with a shaky quarterback situation, and your top running back being a 30 year old with alot of mileage on the legs.

When I really look at this, I think the other guy got the better end of this deal.

Yikes man. QB definitely became a weak spot.

What first round pick do you have? It might be worthwhile to go all-in and dangle it for a real quarterback. Maybe to the guy with Romo/Brady?

Damn.... average minds think alike.
Just before I came in here and read this, I sent an offer of
Kitna / Stanton / 1.09
for Brady

I doubt that will fly but it's a starting point.

My "panic move" for Kitna was to lock up a starter.
I had doubts that Alex Smith would start as he is in a QB controversy with Shawn Hill.
I've got plenty of time to sure up that position.

Any deal to get LT is a GREAT deal. Any deal to get rid of LT is a BAD deal. Depending on the leagues scoring, the rest of the players don't matter to me!
