| Genibus Nitito Canus Premium Member Forum Leader | What the heck! In what can only be described as one of the most "what the hell" moments in recent WWE history, WILLIAM REGAL wins the 2008 King of the Ring Tournament. In the opening round, Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho defeated United States Champion MVP by submission. CM Punk defeated Matt Hardy with the GTS. Finlay defeated the Great Khali by DQ, and William Regal defeated Hornswoggle by submission. The semis saw Regal beat Finlay by submission and CM Punk defeat Chris Jericho with the GTS. Regal beat CM Punk by submission. Basically Regal worked his way over a midget, an injured Finlay, and then a clean win over CM Punk, Mr Money in the Bank, former ECW World Heavyweight Champion, ie a guy getting a push Regal should never have beaten. My KOR with "available" people..... Quarters CM Punk vs MVP Jericho vs Hardy Kennedy vs Finlay Kingston vs Benjamin Semis CM Punk vs Kennedy Kingston vs Jericho Finals CM Punk vs Jericho Winner Jericho

| Deputy Premium Member Forum Leader | From what you have listed.... Jericho already holds a belt. CM Punk has Money in the Bank Case. Finlay isn't title talent IMO. Benjamin has never held up...and Kingston is way too new. Had Kennedy been around...and not filming a movie...he would have been an excellent pick

| Deputy Premium Member Forum Leader | My guess is...this is the start of either getting him out of the GM role..which is a shame...since he is very, very good there. OR>>>>a new scenario where he starts really taking over and getting physically involved...similar to McMahan a few years ago. Only time will tell. |

| TO THE DEATH | Regal can't wrestle a full time schedule anymore. His body can't handle it. Every once in a while, sure. The KOR is suppose to showcase "New" talent to push them up the card, not highlight guys who have been there and done that. The original King of the Ring was a way to get those young midcard guys a chance to elevate themselves. This was a sham and brings disgrace to the KOR. |
