UFC 85-Hughes vs Alves

I'm really hoping for a brutal knockout of Matt Hughes. I just love seeing that prick get beat up. Predictions???

I don't think we see a brutal knockout. I think it goes to a decision to Alves. I just don't think Hughes' heart is in it any more. I know he has thoughts of retirement, and GSP has got to be in his head as well.

Nice fight!! Got to say, I was hoping for a Hughes/Serra fight, but to be honest, this will be a better fight. Alves is a guy I like a lot, he's a tough up and coming talent.

This is a HUGE test for him, and while I like the kid, i think Hughes has a little left. I think hughes pulls out a 3 rd decision on this one.

Alves is a beast, i love his heart and the way he fights. I wanted to see how this went down as this was a big test for him, and he passed with flying colors.

Hughes is an all-time great, but his time has passed. I think it's time for him to hang it up.

As far as what is next for Alvez, well Fitch and GSP are already set. Alvez could be set up to face the winner, but what about Koscheck and Sanchez, they have an argument in there as well. I think an Alvez/Koscheck or Sanchez fight would be the next step.

The winner of GSP vs Fitch matched up with the winner of an Alves vs Koscheck fight sounds about right. GSP already manhandled Koscheck though.

I know, Kos was out classed in that one. I think Alvez vs either Kos or Sanchez would be a great fight!!

Though, I wouldn't argue at all if they matched Alvez against the winner of GSP/Fitch.

Just saw, Alvez failed to make weight for the fight, but Hughes agreed to fight regardless. Alvez weighed in at 175 lbs. He also had a sprained ankle coming in, which Alvez cited as the reason for missing weight.

We know where Alvez stands on all of this..

Quote:
“I’ve been a good boy, I never choose my opponents,” smiled Alves while addressing UFC President Dana White. “Please give me a title shot.”
And Hughes has one more fight, and man do I want to see it....sounds like a great end to his career, kick Matt Serra's ass and call it a day!!

Quote:
“I’ve got one more fight in me,” said Hughes. “That’s Matt Serra. My wife wants it, I want it, and all these fans want it.”
