Although he helped transform the UFC into what it is today, Forrest Griffin is one of thee most overrated fighters in the UFC........today. Rampage wins by whichever way he pleases! Please win Rampage.

LOL, ya know, this is actually kinda funny.......just getting back from vacation, and before the fight, popped in to read up on what people thought about this fight, actually kinda figured I'd see some lean toward Rampage, which may or may not be deserved, but hey, he was the favorite and the champ coming in......but this specific quote made me chuckle a bit.....overrated??? You do realize the only two losses he has on his card since TUF 1 (over 3 years ago) finale against Bonnar is a semi-controversial split decision against Ortiz which preluded the Ortiz-Shamrock massacres, and an admittedly bad hiccup against Jardine, who is, by most publications, in or near the top 10 of 205's big list.

The two big knocks on Griffin is that he isn't a "flashy" fighter, and he didn't have that big time win on his resume. The first one probably depends on the types of fighters you like to follow, I'll admit. If you're a big KO guy, Griffin probably isn't fun for you to follow. However, you can't NOT respect the guy's drive and his heart. He simply doesn't quit. He's able to take shots that turn other guy's lights out. Example. Liddell got stopped by one huge Rampage hook. By my count, Griffin got his bell rung at minimum 4 times in the fight solid.

As for the marquee wins? Well, Forrest's last two wins are now over two former PRIDE monsters in Shogun Rua and Rampage. Both are considered widely as top 5 205'ers. Forrest has beaten BOTH of them in the past nine months. If the argument was tough to make before, I'd love to hear the argument that he's still overrated now.

I could care less if he is flashy...i like watching a guy work for three mins to sink in a choke or arm bar.

If people wanted a big win, id say that they got there big win.

He beat Rua. No judges, no bullshit, just a choke and a smile.

He won a controversial judges decision over Rampage.

He got knocked out by Keith Jardine

He beat Stephan Bonner twice. Whoopie.

He got beat by Tito Ortiz

In 9 UFC Fights he has only won two on the mat, all the rest being by the judge. The other fight he won? Against a guy with a career 8-11 record, in other words a guy he SHOULD kick the shit out of.

Im far from declaring Griffin the next great fighter at 205. Lets see him beat Jardine, and beat Liddell or the like, then we might be on to something.

haha, John, this isn't boxing, man, where every judges' decision is questioned due to the politics........the UFC's judges have managed to get decisions right more often than not. I can only think of a couple of occasions where the judges' decisions weren't consistent with the fight. I would give you the "controversial" decision if it had been a split one. It wasn't. All three judges scoring that bout were able to say after 5 rounds that Griffin was the better fighter that night. Even more telling, the guy he BEAT, Rampage, got in the ring and said that he "got his ass kicked." I'm not trying to say that the Bonner wins were big wins. Far from it. All I'm saying is that the last two guys that this man has beat are considered HUGE names at the top of their division. IMO, he doesn't need to beat Jardine right now, because Jardine isn't worthy of a title shot. If he loses the title, then maybe down the road. But, this isn't Ultimate Knockout Championships, it's fighting. I think he's legitimate, I think he proved he belonged by winning the strap, and I'm personally really looking forward to seeing him and Liddell square off, because I have a feeling that one's going to be a war as well......

I don't see anywhere where you have to have the fight stopped to be given a win....after all, a win, is a win! I don't care if it's by decision or not, it's still a win and Forest is still the Champ!

I just watched a replay of the fight and it was damn close. But I've always believed that when a challenger takes the champions belt in entertaining, yet indecisive fashion (in this case a close decision) they need to fight again, right away. There will be no closure until they fight again and thats not fair to either of the fighters and there fans. Sequels and trilogies between fighters who stylistically matchup well are great for combat sports. I don't think Forrest wins if they fight again, so I guess in order to shut guys like me up, they must fight again!
