The New ECW Title

The new look ECW title was revelaed last night. Another move by WWE to distance itself from the old ECW by going with a sleeker belt that doesn't have the word Extreme on it.

The New Belt belt has a black strap and a silver plate on the front. ECW is in large letters on the front with the word "Champion" on it. It noticeably lacks the word "World" on it, meaning that the ECW Title is no longer considered a World Title.

Grant you, the WWE title doesn't have the word World on it, but it has been a recognized world title for 30 years.

To me, with it's new appearance, I would say that the ECW Championship is now going to be considered on level with the IC and US Championships. Grant you, the ECW title wasn't exactly on par with the WWE and the World Heavyweight Championships, but the ECW title was still considered a step above the lower belts.

Personally, I believe this is another sign that WWE needs to drop the ECW name as this is nothing like Extreme Championship
Wrestling. If anything, it reminds me more of the originally ECW, Eastern Championship Wrestling.

Until WWE is ready to put out an Extreme product, they are belittling the original ECW. If they really want to put a recognizable logo on this show, call it WCW. Personally, WCW fits better then ECW.

its a kinder, friendly ECW. You really didnt think youd get the blood and carnage of the old ECW.

Its still a world title. Its the top title on a brand, even if it is the C brand.

I havent seen the belt yet...but if its what you say it is..it sounds like a copy of a UFC title belt.

Holy semantics, Batman!

I guess I don't care which acronym they use, what word is on the belt, and what the belt looks like - either the show entertains me, or not.

They could make all the changes recommended above and as long as the title match consists of Mark Henry versus Tommy Dreamer, I won't care. Booorring!!!

ECW has been to clean and polished sicne WWE took over.
It's nto the same and it's gay.

I miss ECW, I miss WCW. TNA is okay...

I miss GLOW!!!
