Shooting at Northern Illinois

They had a scare a few months ago about someone saying they wanted to go on a killing spree.

Thank God! When I read this the first time on Drudge I thought there were 17 dead. I pray the 3 with head wounds are okay! Is this where Jacobs went?

hawks and i are about an hour away from dekalb. my boss lives there actually. really scary. scary that it almost seems like a relief that "only" a few people were killed too.

This would be a much safer country if anybody who wanted to, could carry a gun, anywhere the wanted. Yeah a few losers would get shot, and a few good guys jailed because of it, but the loss of the worthless losers would make it worth it. One or two guns, with the right people, at VA Tech or N. Illionois, would have saved lives. Worthless losers can always get a gun, if they want one. It is pretty simple really. Good people don't decide to mow down a few people for shits and giggles. Worthless people, on the other hand, do. A gun in the hand of a normal person, if that person wants to carry one, will do nothing but save lives, and rid this planet of scum!!

I feel for those people in Dekalb. I know what it was like around here after the VT shootings.

My son-in-law works for campus security at the school he attends. He is now armed and would be able to use his pistol if he needed to. I've taken him out to a firing range near here and he's almost as good a shot as I am, although he hadn't used firearms previously. I was on the rifle team at Minnesota when I went to school there and was a pretty good shot.

By no means do I mean anything disrespectful to your son Cat, but it seems to me as if there needs to be people more qualified to hold these security positions, what with the seemingly increasing, and never ending, amount of school shootings. I mean, I think it is no stretch of the imagination to realize that shooting at a target would be much different than shooting at a person, and that shooting while your life is in direct jeapordy is much different than shooting within the secluded walls of a gun range. Now, granted, I know nothing of your son's background, however, you did state that he had not previously used a firearm; certainly there must be ex-military, ex-law enforcment types that would be perfectly qualified for jobs like this.
