From what I saw on ESPNews this is a done deal. Red Sox all get Mike Lowell.

That move makes a bit of sense for the Sox. They get much a stronger rotation and a 3B that may be able to hit a few homers for them, along with playing good defense. It costs them several very good prospects, however.
Overall, both teams should benefit from this deal.

I am curious if this helps push Manny out the door, or now a bigger push to keep him.

I am hearing that Lowell will be spun off. To whom, I do not know.
Lets see where Manny ends up. I also am curious about what will happen to him.

This is what I absolutely hate about baseball.

Trading away talent like that to cut payroll. Gotta love that winning attitude. Hell, I am getting used to that crap here in Texas.

Okay, I am here to say..this will be a mistake by Boston.

He won't be much better than he ever was. He had a career high 15 wins....last year. Granted, the lineup in Boston is much, much better. Still, he is injury prone....and he will get killed by the green wall. IF he can stay healthy...he might work out this year...but watch, in the long run...this was a mistake.

They have done it before. After the WS win, they jetisoned everyone, and eventually developed young guys to take over. No one likes to see a fire sale. But they seem to be able to develope talent and move on.

With the trade of Delgado to the Mets, it appears the Marlins are, indeed, having another "fire-sale".

Great pickup for Boston if he stays healthy.

Welcome aboard, Bamacrazy. It'll be good to read your thoughts on the baseball season here.
The Red Sox seem to be willing to improve their team. Maybe they will retain Johnny Damon's services for a few more seasons?
