I love to cook not sure if we have other who like to cook as well. But with the holidays around the corner thought maybe a thread for use to share different recipes would be nice. And maybe if you know you have to take something but need ideas this would be a good place for ideas.

Every Turkey Day, Pecan Pie. Both my Grandma and Aunt make superb pies and that's my favorite.

My family usually does the turkey, dressing, cranberries, pumpkin pie, etc. I have been involved in the cooking of this meal since I was about 7 and did the whole thing the last time we all got together. And no, I do not use a prepared pie. I make it from scratch (even the crust most years).

I won a couple of chili cookoffs a couple of years back. I'll look for the prize winning recipe.....

Only meal I ever tried making totally from scratch was rabbit stew. The results were less than perfect. Think mashed potatoes with bits of rabbit and carrots on your fork.

It would have been good if I would have started a little later, or if everyone would have gotten home a little (like 4 hours) earlier.....

Hell, it still tasted good - and went down real easy - just wasn't much to look at.

It actually sounds pretty good, and easy to eat. Many people need things like that.

Pies from scratch are not too bad. Its usually easier just to buy a prepared pie crust, but sometimes I want the challenge of making the entire thing by myself.

With the quality of the pre-made crusts being what it is now, there really isn't a lot of call for making them yourself. I don't even know where my rolling pin is anymore.

As long as your wife doesn't know where it is.
