That's the key. I do the same thing with Yams. Sometimes, I'll put marshmallows and brown sugar on my ham when I bake it.
I think my wife hid my rolling pin. She usually buys a couple of prepared pie crusts around this time of year as a hint.

A few years back, my grandma made 26 pies for Thanksgiving (all from scratch). But at 94, about 4-5 is her limit. My favorite is Lemon Merangue but she also makes chocolate, coconut cream, pumpkin, vanilla cream and various fruit pies. She just can't do them all at once, anymore.

I feel the same way about fishing. I used to go with my grandfather and haven't been out with my rod since the last time we went out -- about 3 months before he died. He was 99 and looking forward to his 100th birthday. He didn't make it, but wouldn't have enjoyed it if he had. He got really sick and was bed-ridden for the last month or so.
Back to recipes -- I just found that Campbell's still makes Golden Mushroom soup. It was a staple in our house when my daughter was little. I'd brown a pound or so of hamburger, drain the grease, add veggies -- onions, green peppers (1 of each, chopped) a can of Golden Mushroom soup and let it simmer for about 30 minutes. My cat always appreciated the hamburger grease and everyone liked the food, especially when I served it with chow mein noodles.

Cheeseburger Dip

1lb Italian sausage
Lrg bx Velveeta Cheese
2 Cans Cream of Mushroom soup
24oz Thick and Chunky Salsa

Fry hamburger and Italian sausage together, In crockpot combine
hamburger/Italian sausage, mushroom soup, salsa, and velveeta on high heat
for about 1 hr , stir periodically...

My wife and I sometimes like really hot things so I have come up with Fire Burgers.

Ingredients
2 1/2 lbs 80-84% lean chop meat.
5 green chile peppers (Hot, hotter the better)
1 package Lipton Zesty Onion soup mix
3/4 cup Zesty A-1 Steak sauce

Chop the chilies into very small pieces.

Preheat broiler.

Mix all ingredients and form hamburgers. Cook them almost enough to where you like them and take them off.

Next apply a fresh coat of A-I to the tops of the burgers and place them in the broiler for 3 minutes.

Take them out and let them sit for 1 minute, then serve.

Keep some bread and beer close by.

Betcha that's Bubba's grandma's recipe.

Catman, I, too, was the king of mushroom soup recipes when my kids were small.

Nikki, than dip sounds pretty damn good.

Taz, those Fire Burgers would prolly have me tossing and turning half the night - but I might still give 'em a try.....

I've been stocking up on the ingredients for it since I saw the recipe. It sounds absolutely great. I wonder if egg-substitute works as well as whole eggs (I've been put on a low-cholesterol diet and whole eggs are a no-no for me).

I don't drink enough beer anymore to worry about a big can of it. 16 oz. cans are more than enough for me and only once in a while.
I used to put beer in my fried rice for flavor, though. Maybe it's at an Asian restaurant?

Bubba, that desert sounds really good!!

Nic, that's a great twist on the dip I make it a lot without the Sausage and the Mushroom soup. Will need to try adding those to it.

The hamburger, cheese, and salsa make a great game day dip. Very quick and easy to make.
