Anthony Gonzalez - Draft Projection - NFL Impact

Anthony Gonzalez

Wide Receiver - Ohio State
  • Height - 6'0"
  • Weight - 195
  • 40 Time - 4.40
Draft Projection - Second Round

NFL Impact - Anthony Gonzalez has always been in the shadow of flashier WR's at Ohio State, however, you can argue that no receiver has been more clutch over that time then Gonzalez. Gonzalez is a polished WR who runs great routes and is faster then many think. This is a guy who could boost his stock at the combine if he runs well. He looks to be best suited as a complimentary #2 WR at the pro level. Teams looking for help at WR will surely be looking his way in the 2nd round.

What are your thoughts on Anthony Gonzalez? Who could be calling his name in April?

Not much reason to stick around when most of the offensive fire power is probably NFL bound. He'll make a nice No. 2 WR for someone within a few years. Any word on Ginn yet?

Gonzo is going to be a nice #2, but at the same time I think he could have benefited from staying another year. But he has his degree, why not go make the money.

Where does everyone see him being drafted? I see him as a 2nd - 3rd rd pick at the moment.

Nine times out of 10 I would agree with you. However, reality says new Qb, probably new Rb, new center and I believe OT(at least one) and no Ginn, will mean a very tough offensive year for Gonzales. I think he got a taste of what to expect in the championship game...and realized his value will never be higher than it is now. I agree though, he will make a great #2 or slot reciever for some NFL team.

Both OT's will be back, Barton announces he will not be leaving early and Boone is only a Soph.

But I do see your point, it will be a transition year for sure.

then again, this year was going to be a transition year too on defense, and that worked out.

still, this move doesnt surprise me. i would guess hes probably a third rounder. as a vikings fan and a team that needs WRs badly, hes a good route runner and great security blanket, one who is simply better than the numbers and a guy id be happy to have.

Until we played some real offenses in the last 2 games......80 pts in 2 games still has me sick to my stomach.

Dude is sick, I wouldn't mind if the Bears got him to replace Gage's sorry ass as the #4/#5 guy.

lol, in Chicago he would be no worse then a #3 very quickly and would be a starter within a couple years very easily.

Gonzo is going to make a pretty good #2. Think Alvin Harper to Michael Irvin. He'll have some good years, he'll have some down years, but he'll be consistant. He's not the big time down field threat that he's made out to be, but he's got soft hands and will be used as a possession WR next to a quality #1. 2nd or 3rd round is the earliest he's gonna go unless he has one hell of a combine and somebody decides they need a wideout desperately.
