Alan Branch - Draft Projection - NFL Impact

Alan Branch

Defensive Tackle - Michigan
  • Height - 6-6
  • Weight - 331
  • 40 time - 5.25
  • 2006 AP 2nd Team All-American
Draft Projection - Top 10

NFL Impact - Branch is considered the top defensive tackle available and his size and talent is drawing him caparisions to Jacksonville stand out John Henderson. For teams looking for the large space eating defensive tackle who can stop the run and creat a push up the middle, Branch has to top their list. He has the ability to come in right away and make an impact at the NFL level.

What are your thoughts on Alan Branch? Who could be calling his name in April?

Branch was used primarily as the push up the middle as Michigan used more and more 3-4 sets with Woodley as a OLB down rusher. Branch has perfect size and strength for an NFL defensive tackle, and every early report I've heard has him going #3 to Cleveland, which is where ESPN's initial mock has him. My only concern for Branch is the fact that he was dealing with a LOT of one on one blocking schemes, due to the strength of Michigan's front four this year. Will be interesting to see how he handles being double teamed at the NFL level.

This sounds like someone the Redskins could use. They have to use this pick on a impact player, they don't pick again until Round 5 I think....

I guess they could trade their first rounder for more picks though.....
