| who me? Admin | Dwayne Jarrett - Draft Projection - NFL Impact Dwayne Jarrett Wide Receiver - USC
NFL Impact - Has all the tools to succeed at the NFL level. Runs perfect routes, excellent hands, and positions himself perfectly during the reception to shield off defenders. Is a true playmaker that excelled in big games. Compares at the NFL level to a receiver like Michael Irvin and should make an immediate impact. Has one negative which is his estimated 40 time of 4.55. What type of impact will Dwayne Jarrett make at the NFL level? Which team (s) do you see looking to draft him? |

| who me? Admin | This is my #1 receiver in the NFL Draft this year. It will be interesting to see how he times out at the combine, but besides the speed, this guy is truly a playmaker who seemed to really step up his game this year. |

| 'Burghapologist | I like Jarrett alot also. With that said, he just makes me nervous because I see alot of Mike Williams in him and we're seeing how that's playing out. I realize Dwayne stuck around USC longer and has a larger sample size, but still.. And as much as I like Jarrett, there's nothing anyone can say right now that would sway my opinion that Calvin Johnson is not only the #1 WR in this draft, but possibly the best WR prospect coming out of college in the past 10-15 years. To put it into context, look at Johnson's body of work while having a QB throwing to him that was more of a runner and had about a 50% completion percentage for the bulk of his time at Ga.Tech. I really think we're looking at Randy Moss minus the baggage. |

| who me? Admin | I don't look at Mike Williams as much of a comparison for anybody. Williams is a guy that is in a horrible situation, and compound that with the fact he missed a year of football due to a bad decision. Missing that much time is disastrous for a rookie receiver, especially when you go to a team that is totally clueless. To me Jarrett is just a guy that thrives on big games and being a playmaker. I just can't bring myself to think that Jarrett wont be as good or better than Calvin Johnson. I think the biggest knock on Jarrett is his 40 time, and I have a feeling that many will be shocked at how close these guys end up running at the combine. Could be wrong, but Jarrett just seems much faster than the 40 time that is currently tagged to him. |

| 'Burghapologist | You're right on point with the 40 times. I've thought for years they should run 2 40's at the combine with one being in pads and on grass/fieldturf. I think it would be shocking to alot of people how track speed doesn't always translate into game speed. The comp to Williams was strictly on measurables and skillsets coming out of school and the fact they had almost the same coaching. |

| Who Me? Admin | Kid simply makes plays. He has the physical tools to make plays despite not being a burner. What concerns me more then his speed though is I have not been impressed with his route running. He seems to rely on his god given talent rather then using technique on running routes. This is a concern to me, but one with the right coach he can overcome. Overall I see him behind Calvin and in a dead heat with Ginn Jr for the #2 WR.

| Richest Vman Alive Moderator | since you closed the other thread.... yeah, some people said the same thing about mike williams. only then williams had problems getting separation in college too at times, and he was a glorified red zone target who made his living off of one insanely sick catch against oregon state. i called him a bust from the moment he declared. i know cuz thats the other year minnesota drafted a high WR, and we passed on him while all my friends, and then detroit took him 3 spots later adn they laughed again. and i just about cried tears of joy. i watched my division rivals take cedric benson, mike williams, and aaron rodgers in succession and i knew i didnt have to worry about any superstars in THAT bunch. williams was a very average player with poor routes, overrated hands, and terrible (4.8?) speed. pick one of the usc games that was big in the last 2 years. just pick one and watch it. then tell me jarretts not a great player. a couple of us here (i believe mike included) have been saying he was the best most nfl ready prospect for two years in a row, including leinart white and bush last year. hes that good. oh he'll get like a 4.55 or something and slide too far, whatever, its the draft. it always happens. but someones going to get very lucky when they take him. hes got only one flaw and its his attitude. as long as he can get over that, hes going to be a star. |

| who me? Admin | Seriously considering moving Jarrett to the Vikings in my mock draft after the Combine is over. the rumors are starting to favor this quite a bit, and I think it would be an absolute perfect fit. As for the comparison to Mike Williams, I really don't understand that at all, other than the same uniform in college. The thing that hurt Mike Williams was missing a year of football and getting out of shape. That came at the worst time in his career, while he was attempting to make the ultimate jump in his career (college to NFL). Even with that, the jury is still out on him. |

| Deputy Premium Member Moderator | I have stated in the past here, that I am not high on Jarrett. Concerned his lack of speed in the NFL won't allow sepperation. I was told he will be a great playmaker. I just don't feel that way. History and USC wr's just doesn't carry. This performance here makes me feel somewhat vindicated. |

Rather than measuring how fast a rested player can run, I would like to see these guys turn in a time immediately at halftime of the first NFL game where they were in the lineup for every offensive play. I don't have a high opinion of the combine, bowl games, or pro days. They are fun to read about, and for me, downright hilarious to watch the stock of players rise and fall as a result of these events. Great performances in these events have led to plenty 1st round draft busts. The NFL will always be infatuated, to a fault, with the speed of skill position players. As for Jarrett, too much film available on this kid. Too much proof into how good he can play. If he dropped to Dallas, I would love to be getting what I feel may be the best receiver in this draft class.

| 'Burghapologist | Was waiting for that response... So when Revis blazes a fast 40 time for scouts, it means something. When Jarrett tanks NOT ONLY the 40, but also his RECEIVING drills for scouts, we can just blow that off. Can a brutha get some consistency up in here?!?! LOL |

![]() I remember referring to his 40 times in response to some claiming he just wasn't fast enough. I definitely don't use it to decide his NFL value.

| who me? Admin | Ya know, maybe this will be a little like 1996. Marvin Harrison, with his less than impressive 40 time, becoming the 4th receiver taken. Or better yet, Terrell Owens, with a 40time just below 4.6 going at the end of the 3rd round. What separated these two receivers from the other receivers in this draft class? What they lack in speed, they make up for with route running, sharp cutting, body positioning, and playmaking. For a current example of this kind of talent, see game film on Dwayne Jarrett ![]() |

| 'Burghapologist | Now you're onto something with 1996 comparisons! -EXTREMELY deep WR class.. -Speedy Ohio St. wideout who some love and some hate (Terry Glenn/Ted Ginn, Jr) -Highly regarded LSU prospect who projects as a solid pro (Eddie Kennison/Dwayne Bowe) -And an overrated USC WR who was ultra-productive in college and will get drafted ahead of others who will be better NFL players. (Keyshawn Johnson/Jarrett) -T.O. went in the 3rd round in that draft, not because of questionable ability, but because he went to UT-Chattanooga. -It should also be noted that Joe Horn went in the 5th round in that same draft class. |

| 'Burghapologist | The ironic thing in this whole debate is that a year from now I'll be arguing FOR a player who I love and is a virtual clone of Jarrett.. Marcus Monk from the Razorbacks. LOL |
