I wasn't really targeting 1996, I just wanted to go after Terrell Owens because he was the first one to come to mind with a slow 40 time.

Already got my eye on that kid. Hell of a red zone target.

Well, 1996 was to WR rookies what 1983 was to QB rookies. After all the underclassmen declared, I could easily see where this year's WR crop will rival, if not surpass that benchmark draft class.

You just happened to remind me of some very accurate comparisons between the 2.

Jerry Rice would be an average player in that offensive scheme.

How exactly can you be "very average", anyway? hehe

Gonna have to call you out on the carpet, DB.

Show your work to back up that opinion.

i dont know what you mean by work. but my roommate is an arkansas homer, so ive had the misfortune of following them about three years in a row. and yeah its a terrible passing scheme, but i just havent been that impressed. hes about as average as you can get. i wouldnt want to even consider him as more than a #4 receiver in the NFL, and honestly i didnt even assume he was draftable until you brought him up.

The Scouting services players consult with to determine their draft value apparently informed him he would've been a 2nd round pick had he left this year, so he stayed. That was due to the depth at WR in this draft class.

Show your work means give some reasoning behind an open statement like "he's a very average player". Like on a math test or something.. showing how you came up with your answer.

So you didn't like what you saw. Fair enough.

well ive probably seen him play in 15 or 20 games, and as a vikings fan i can tell you we are desperate for WR help, and if this guy had declared this year and was anything earlier than a 6th round pick for us, i wouldve been terribly upset. thats all.

anyway back to jarrett...

I find it extremely hard to believe that you've seen 15-20 Arkansas games since they are rarely nationally televised, but ok.
Since you said back to Jarrett by god, we'll get back to Jarrett.

So you two can snuggle up on the futon on a chilly spring weeknight, hold hands, share popcorn, and whisper sweet nothings into each other's ear about Houston Nutt's Wildcat formation while dissecting game tape?

Not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that, of course.

Seriously here folks...I got he didn't run at the combine..and everyone thought when he did work out this times would be fine. They weren't. I also got he didn't work out at the combine, so when he worked out at his team workout he would catch all and impress all.....he didn't.

So...now we are going to fall back on....I know a great player when I see one? Seriously? If that is the case...why are you all not making money as scouts in the NFL?

I grant you the kid has talent. I also grant in the red zone with his leaping ability..he could be good. He is not though...a top ten first round wr. Sorry...the numbers prove that.

With his slow speed and good hands and route running does he remind any one of Keyshawn ?

i still say that if you take the uniform off, all of these comparisons to keyshawn and mike williams are just not worth much. hes not the same player as either of them.

at this point, weve all discussed this one to death. we'll just have to wait and see how he works out as a pro over the next few years. im convinced hes not only going to be good, hes going to be great.

im not sure what you mean by that, but ive felt that jarrett was the best pro prospect on usc for the last two straight years, and that includes leinart and bush.

Look, I love you DB.. so very very much. But you can't make posts like that and maintain credibility in this forum unless you start dating another prominent Outlaw member.

Wait.... (LOL)

Being a midwestern guy who watches Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame suck up the air waves, I can't say I've seen a lot of Jarrett. One game I did see was the Rose Bowl this past January, and you can't deny that he embarrassed one of the top CBs in this year's draft. It honestly reminded me of when Keyshawn dismantled Northwestern in Pasadena back in '96.

I'm not worried about his speed because that doesn't matter much if he can run routes and knows how to use that big frame. I think it's a matter of motivation for the guy. If he wants to, he'll be a pretty good pick for someone. If not, he'll be Mike Williams all over again.

Okay, had to come back and reread this thread. Glad to see I was actually damn right about this guy. Great talent.....that didn't see the field. Ended up in Carolina, to replace Keyshawn....and never really was the field. I am pretty sure he didn't put in the effort to learn the playbook( I think we had a post in the rumor thread on this with a quote from Steve Smith.. )...and simply can't sepperate.

Another USC failure? I guess you have to wait and see.
