| Better late than never | Took Weddle at 3.2 for Detroit. Tweener who has potential to play at both positions at the pro level. High character, great motor, good tackler, makes plays. Had many options with this pick. He was the best fit. |

| Richest Vman Alive Forum Leader | dang it, i knew weddle was going to fall so far and then just not quite enough. i *strongly* considered him at minnesota's pick and was assuredly taking him at arizona's upcoming 3.5 if he was still there. hes just a guy who does everything. he can play anywhere in the secondary along with be a top special teams guy. just one of those patriot-type guys who molds himself to a system and does everything. |

| 'Burghapologist | Sorry to rain on the Weddle lovefest, but this is taken directly from PFW's draft analysis... "Is not very physical and does not have great size to hold up inside the box... Thinks he is better than he is... Not a great team player and celebrates like he won a gold medal when he makes a play, yet does not congratulate his teammates when they do... A good college player who has been overhyped in an average conference and will be overwhelmed in the NFL." So in summary to Millen's reasoning for the pick; Good tackler? Sometimes. Makes Plays? Ok, yeah. Great Motor? Umm, sure. High character? Not sure where the hell that statement came from, but I'm trending towards "not so much". At least not so much to cite that as a reason why anyone wants this young man on their roster in this round. I don't really have as much beef with where he was drafted so much as the rationale for taking him here and the subsequent hero worship. |

| Richest Vman Alive Forum Leader | gee, if we had known you were just going to throw away your pick, we couldve done that for you a couple days ago. ![]() nah, really, i think drew stanton is going to be a great 3rd round pickup for some team. looks to me like the exact same quarterback as brady quinn at a much better price. great arm, good football iq, good pocket presence. can sometimes lose poise in the biggest games, just like quinn, but all the tools are there for him to be a really nice QB potential. |

| SO Resident Choke Artist | eh, I thought it was really good value in the 3rd for Cleveland, I honestly figure to see him come off the board in the mid to late 2nd at the end of the month, for a lot of the reasons bomb mentioned........his size will get him picked up ahead of Troy Smith, and it gives Cleveland a nice option to develop in case Frye doesn't pan out....... |

| Better late than never | Nice pick maverick. Stanton was one of 4 players that I was looking at for my pick. Hoped he would slide farther, but almost had to go DB from a lack of depth there. I think the Lions might take him at 2.2 on the 28th. |

| Deputy Premium Member Forum Leader | I am sorry, I have said it before, and will say it again, the last thing Cleveland needs is another young Qb. They really need a vet to work with either or both kids and let this team mature. Another young Qb on a so so team means a fired coach. |

| SO Resident Choke Artist | I agree totally, Phi, but if Stanton's there in the third, he's going to be one of the BPA's on most boards, and considering Frye hasn't exactly lit it up, it's not like it's not a need area for the Browns...... |

| Who Me? Admin | Frye & Anderson are not the answers! Not now ,and not in the future. Now Stanton may not be either, but he can not be worse then these two. |

I understand most's view of BPA. However in the here and now in the NFL, teams, especially teams that have been terrible, can't afford the luxury of BPA...they need to get the holes they have filled. Again, Stanton might be a great Qb in the future, but he will take at least a year to develop...that is a year too long for Crennel. | |||

| Richest Vman Alive Forum Leader | wow, right out from under me panther, thanks. lol. from all i read, eric wright is probably the most talented corner in the draft, but also pretty troubled with a lot of character question marks. having taken a guy on the opposite end of the spectrum in leonard last round, i was going to take the risk. really solid gamble in the third round imo. |

| Richest Vman Alive Forum Leader | 3.5 Arizona - Josh Beekman OT/OG Boston College its pretty boring taking offensive linemen i know ive never watched for a single down, but this is just a need pick. dudes supposed to be a really good run blocker, and he has played every position on the line in college, so he adds depth and versatility to the line. projected starter at guard long term, may try at OT if need be for this team. |

| Outlaw | Yea, I know he has the character issue from when he was at USC (Think that was the right one) before they fiddled around and he opted to move to UNLV and sit out the one year. But think that moved really helped him in the long run and got over that. Seems the fit for now in what I would do for TB and the backfield of that defense. Had another I almost took, but relooked before hitting submit and took Wright instead. |
